This recently published book Buddha's Orphans (July 2010) by Samrat Upadhyay, which I've begun, is set in Nepal, opening with the problem of an abandoned infant. What happens to the baby catches the reader from the first chapter. The author has also written two volumes of short stories, Arresting God in Kathmandu (2001 & previously noted by members) and The Royal Ghosts (2006), as well as another novel, The Guru of Love (2003).

Forget Kathmandu: An Elegy for Democracy, Manjushree Thapa was a very interesting summary of the royal family massacre.
