I understand what he's saying and I don't appreciate it.
It would be interesting, but not appropriate for a main history book. History should be recorded with as little bias as possible. In a similar vein, my school's world religion text book is written from a Catholic point of view, and though it is mostly fair, it makes a hilarious about of mistakes just because the author is not actually part of the religions he writes about and has several misunderstandings. It's quite entertaining.
