I wanted Winnie to run away with Jesse

I liked the ending because Winnie gave her only true friend the bottle of water. It was a gesture of thanks and gratitude. Now Toad would be everlasting.

at the restaurant the waiter should have been winnie

I really liked the movie ending EXCEPT that I thought when Jesse came back Winnie should have been waiting for him. I liked the part where her grandma dies because it really draws Winnie and her mom together. But I still like the book ending. I think they both work.
