Team Jacob discussion

does anyone no y peeps like ed more and not just cuz hes like super hot cuz thats all i can get out of my frends

Oh sure it's nice for a character to be good looking, but I don't agree that his 'good-looks' make me regard him on a higher scale than Jacob Black. In fact, in my head Jacob is equally as good looking as Edward, I mean, you have to admit, tanned/dark skin is pretty hot, a lot more than pale white, right? Anyway getting sidetracked. Believe me, I have many valid points for liking Edward better (and many points to why I DON'T like Jacob, but I won't go there, because this is the Jacob Team group and respect that you have your own opinions, feelings etc.):

Intelligence: you gotta admit, he's smart. Sure he's had the odd 100 years or so to get that way, and the added bonus that he can read minds, but no matter what, even if not the wisest (decision to leave Bella and all, which I, too, blatantly disagreed with), he's still intelligent about situations, logic, people and most other things. If Edward was a slack-jawed, stupid idiot with dazzling good-looks, then I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't think the same about Edward. Shallow people might still like him...but taking away his intelligence just makes him a whole lot less 'sexy'. Plus he talks intelligently, in a mature, sophisticated manner. He thinks about what he says and just doesn't spurt out incoherent nonsense. And who can resist a smooth talker?

Decency: he's an absolute gentleman, that's undeniable. Some people don't like that about a guy, but I do. It goes along with the whole sophistication thing. He's romantic, sweet and protective(flaw? I beg to differ). He's polite, as he opens the door for Bella when she gets in the car, and he's tactful, knowing the right things to say and when to say them. That and he restrains from saying terrible things about Jacob and the wolves. He respects them for what they are even if he doesn't like them.

Unselfish/Altruistic: he loves Bella so much he'd do anything for her. Even agree to her being with Jacob if that's what she wanted. He let Bella cry over another man in his arms. What guy would do that for you? It's just like going to your boyfriend/partner/husband and crying/whining to him about some other guy that you are in love with too. Edward sure can take a beating. If I were Edward I would be so hurt...my soul mate, the only girl I'll ever love in my entire existence is in love with another guy and is crying in my arms because of her dilemma about choosing between us...like wow? He would do anything for Bella; leave her alone so she can be with Jacob, die for her or love her forever. He's just selfless beyond words. All my Jacob-loving friends hate that about Edward...because they reckon that he's too 'perfect'. Well get this, no one can be too perfect. It's impossible to exceed perfection, because perfection is the best, the top, the end of the ride. There's nothing higher than perfection. And Edward is NOT perfection. If he were truly perfection no one could say anything bad about Edward, but I'm sure a lot of you can. =P

Humour: he's funny and snarky, sometimes it's snide and often it's a kind of deadpan humour. But I love that. He can joke about what he is, he can tease Bella and he can say things that just come off as funny, even if he's not intentionally going for humour. It gives him more personality, and makes him less dark, broody and serious, which leads to my next point.

Dark/Broody/Serious/Sense of Danger: haha, this point is pretty much contradicting my earlier point but whatever, afterall Edward is a double edged sword, ouu how delightful. But basically he's dark, gothic even. Well all vampires are technically meant to be gothic, being shadowy creatures of the night and all. You know he has a dark jaded past and that gives him a element of danger and mystery, keeps you on edge when you're with him. That and the fact he could potentially rip your throat open and drink of your flesh and blood...yummy. Seriously, maybe that's why I don't like the "La Push" werewolves, because although I LOVE werewolves, I just don't like Stephanie Meyer's werewolves. They seem like such push overs (la push XD?), they're not even scary. Why have mythical creatures of the night that don't even make the hairs of your nape prickle? They're pretty much over-sized guard dogs (remember Bella petting Jacob as a werewolf? Here, Spot?). Because that's all they are, I mean, even dogs can turn on you and bite, right? That doesn't keep you on the edge of your seat, you're not gonna fear your dog because you think it might bite you. What happened to the tearing of flesh, the devouring of entrails, the bloody mess, and then waking in the morn to find the grotesque remains of your victim strewn over your hands, face and body. ...wait wait! I'm getting out of hand, I shouldn't compare >
Yeah that's it for now, I probably have much more, but I'm tired, and the other points include the possible degrading of a certain puppy that is adored in this particular section of Goodreads, so I shan't continue, because I argue enough with all my rabid Jacob-adoring friends. Hurrah. And there you have it, why I like Edward, stepping away from the shallow aspects of his physical appearance! Never liked pale guys anyway...ew.

Well personally moral vampires tend to annoy me and overall Jacob is a lot more fun. But I think most Edward fans tend to judge him on his looks because personality wise he isn't that big of a deal.

I find just the idea of Jacob a lot more interesting and appealing.

He's the best friend that you love but some days he can be a total idiot where you just want to hit him but you still love anyway.

Yeah, Jacob is just so loyal...and honest, even if it hurts. I appreciate that in a mate. I don't want a knight in shining armor as much as I want a companion and friend. If nothing else, my hands and feet are always icy, and sticking them on Edward wouldn't help! =)

about adward being smart, its his enhanced mind as a vampire that alopws him to b that smart
weras jacob is just like any other teenage guy,stupid and sometimes irresponsible. edward is like every parents dream boy for there daughter. jake is the exact opposite and thats why i like him because hes edgy and truthful.

Jacob is much more...realistic i guess then Edward. Edward is just this well mannered, smart, rock. It's not that i have anything against Edward, Jake is just more..."human". He reminds me a lot of one of my best friends, which in some ways they are almost EXACTLY the same. They're both fun and irresponsible at times and then can be totally sweet. But then other days...you just wanna punch their faces in. Not that I would ever wish that upon Jacob. I love him 2 much for that. :) In all GO ♥JACOB♥!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think hes heartless just overprotective. he loves bella soo much he tries to leave her to protect her, i guess if i was him id do the same id rather leave my hubby then be the reason he died! but people like ed cuz they make him seem like the ideal guy plus he the main character

I agree with you, to an extent. In the books, Edward is all of that and more, but in the movie, (technicaly, that's part of twilight now.) he looses most, if not all of those traits. It's almost as if he gives it all to Jacob in the movies. So, if you know what I mean, I am Team Switzerland!

Jake is way strong and well......cute and fluffy when he turns into a wolf..

You know apparently Rob was making fun of Canadian's teeth. He said something about British people having bad teeth or something... But I'm sure he said that Canadians have bad teeth, and that is very insulting for me because I'm Canadian. He's ugly and he should just mind his own business. I liked Edward in the books. I mean he seemed like the perfect guy, but Robert Pattinson ruined it and Jacob is so much better. I've decided something, what is the point of Team Jacob or Team Edward if Bella gets both.
