Diane U (djuseless) I saw a badge for this website on Mom's Pace's blog. I signed up for it. Here is how you join:

http://booksneeze.com/join

It may take several days to get approved so don't worry. It works like Net Galley but there are paper books available too. I looked at some past book reviews and there have been lots of Amish books.

I joined but I do not have any books yet. There is one available today that looks interesting to me but it is in paper only. I don't want to start filling up my bookcase especially when I have a kindle.

I'll post links to any Amish books that may come up. I would get those in paper since my Mom and hubby's aunt both love Amish fiction so I can pass those on to someone else when I have finished it.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I've signed up to this too, and have one book to be reviewed next month Where Hearts Are Free by Golden Keyes Parsons. The only thing about BookSneeze is that you can't get a new book until you've submitted a review for your current one.

Do BookSneeze do ebooks? I got sent a paper one, and I would have assumed that since I'm in the UK they would have sent me an ebook to save money, if one was available?

message 4: by Diane U (last edited Oct 20, 2010 08:38AM) (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I asked them that question after joining. I was told that if ebooks are available it will say across the book cover. I saw one last week but it really did not interest me. I'll make sure that I really want to read one then if I cannot get another book until I post a review on the first one.

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ah, okay, that's good to know that there are both types.

I joined up back in August when there weren't many books available, so I just snatched up the first fiction book that became available so I could make a start and get my foot in the door :) I've not seen any Amish books yet but if you look under reviews they released Beth Wiseman and Kathleen Fuller's books earlier in the year!

Brenda | 81 comments Hey guys here is a site where I sometimes get books to review, I just send an email requesting what I am interested in having on my blog and they mail them right out to me, right now they have a new to me Amish author named Linda Byler, I just got both books in the mail and they look interesting. Here is the link and good luck! http://www.fsbmedia.com/books.php

Rachel,
I read and reviewed that book a few weeks ago, it is actually a pretty good book!

message 8: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments If you guys are interested I have a few sites where I get review books, one in particular is Bethany House, if you would like I can post the link for it, once you sign up they normally send an email approx once a month with a list of available books, you just choose what you would like to read and they mail it to you, the only stipulation is that they like to have the reviews posted in a months time.

message 9: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Thanks for the info, Brenda, you're a wealth of knowledge when it comes to book reviewing! Would you be able to post the link to the Bethany House page?

Glad that Where Hearts are Free is good, I'm looking forward to reading it!

message 10: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Rachel, here is the link for Bethany House http://www.bethanyhouse.com/ME2/Audie...

message 11: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) OMG, thanks for listing those two sites! I applied for Bethany House and I sent email requsets to FSB Media for the two books by Linda Byler.

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Aww, the Bethany House one is only available to North American residents because of shipping costs. Maybe I'll email them and ask if they'd offer ebooks to book reviewers from other countries? I'll look into the FSB media one though and see if they send abroad.

message 13: by Diane U (last edited Oct 22, 2010 08:00AM) (new)

Diane U (djuseless) It would be more economical for them to offer ebooks. With the increase in its popularity, it may be an option! Or you could move! LOL!

message 14: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, yeah, I've been discovering so many great books through this group but I have to get them online because British bookshops don't sell them. You lucky Americans! A small Christian book shop has opened in my local mall and the owner will order the books for you, which is a nice improvement. I'm just happy that christianbook.com ships all over the world! But yeah, eBooks are becoming more and more popular with the rise of eReaders so hopefully more publishers will take up the NetGalley-approach to getting reviewers.

message 15: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I just heard back from FSB Media and my books are on the way! Yippeee!!!

message 16: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments I am so happy for you Diane, I will go thru my other links and see what I have, also I must say Diane, after you talking so much about your Kindle, I purchased the newest one with 3g and love it! My old ereader was starting to get sluggish and with the price of kindle I figured I would treat myself for my birthday. You are a great salesman Diane!

message 17: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I have been called a kindle pusher at work! I cannot say enough great things about it!!!! I only push what I truely believe in!

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, indeed, you are an excellent saleswoman, Diane! But I'm glad because a lot of my friends are anti-eReaders because they think it'll kill printed media so it's nice to see an opinion from a booklover who also loves Kindles. I'm sure I'll be coming to you in December with loads of questions when I get mine :)

message 19: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Not a problem Rachel, I am here to help!

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments I just found a couple of short stories for download by Jerry Eicher over at Amish Reader. Here is the link http://www.amishreader.com/download/
Be sure and check out their giveaway!

message 21: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Woohoo, an Amish book is available at Book Sneeze!

Here it is:

http://booksneeze.com/blogger/request...

It is The Secrets Beneath by Kathleen Fuller. It looks like it is more juvenille Amish fiction but it sounds pretty good. Besides, I have not read any books by this author yet.

message 22: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, are you going to request it? I've already got one review pending so I can't go for this one, but good luck to everyone else :)

message 23: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I did request it. Although they are paper books, it works out well that my husband's aunt loves Amish fiction too so I am giving them to her after I review them.

message 24: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Can't wait to hear your reviews! Her books look really good but she doesn't seem as popular as some other Amish authors.

I tried but it says there is nothing available?

message 26: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Aww, I guess it must be gone by now? :(

message 27: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Honestly, I saw it in the morning and then it was gone by the afternoon. They must only have a limited number of copies available.

message 28: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Fiction seems to go incredibly fast on BookSneeze.

message 29: by Janet (new)

Janet | 153 comments guess I have to figure out how to set up a blog so I can get involved in all this.

message 36: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) You're welcome :) I still have to review the one I got last month so I can't request any right now but I'm glad I can pass the information on to you lot before the book disappears!

message 40: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I was thinking the same thing Lorie! :(

message 41: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I still have to read and review my first book from Booksneeze! I better get moving so I don't miss out on another free Amish book!

message 42: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I've just finished my first book today so I'm going to write my first review before the new ones come up!

message 43: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Boo, I just checked BookSneeze and all the new books are non-fiction or kids books! Nothing I'm terribly interested in.

message 44: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Phew, there are no Amish books that I will miss out on!

message 45: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Hurry hurry hurry! There is now an Amish book posted! http://booksneeze.com/blogger/request...

message 48: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Yay Brenda and Abbie! I wish I could grab it, but I have another book to read and review first! I look forward to the review from you ladies though. :) And maybe we could start a book exchange within this group and mail each other the paper copies we have of Amish fiction books!

message 49: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Phew, I finished that other book just in time! Got it! It sounds like it will be a good read for February!!!

message 50: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay, thanks Camille! I hadn't had a chance to check BookSneeze today as I've been busy with classes and looking after my boyfriend as he's ill - glad I checked here!
