I euthanized my dog on Monday after she suffered a ruptured disk and paralysis. We were out walking and she turned to chase another dog, pulling against the lead. There was some pressure on me to make a quick decision about this due to other emergency surgeries at the same time (at a small country vet's office). I'm really struggling now because I'm wondering if I made the right choice. Has anyone else out there had any experience with anything like this?

I have not had that experience, but I will pray. It sounds like you did the right thing. Dogs don't do well with paralysis. They want to run with their master. I am so sorry. I think we all struggle after hard choices. May God truly comfort you and bring his peace.
Thank you for your kind words and prayers.
I hope it's okay that I started this thread. Maybe it could be used by the group to discuss moral dilemmas/struggles. The Christian perspective is invaluable.

I believe you made the right choice, and I would have made the same, but it is a quesiton of personal conscience. I will pray for you. It is always hard to lose a pet.
Thank you, Skylar. I feel a little less dreadful today.
Yes, thank you, Karen.
I really, really miss her still and my dogless life seems barren. Probably that will ease over time, too.

Well, now I need help...I seemed to have twisted my left knee a while ago, and the swelling and irritation has finally showed up! Thankfully I am not in pain. I will go to my doctor after next week. So, HELP! I need prayer. I am a mom and mom's don't do well when they are ailing. So Reading Recluse, this is a good thread for asking for prayer :)
I'm so sorry to hear about your injury, Karen. I will certainly pray for you.
Are any of your children old enough to help out?

Thanks so much for praying. Thankfully my kids (11-17) are all old enough to help. I do really feel the prayers. My spirits have SO lifted :) Prayer is truly such a gift.
My knee is definitely healing. While I was at the Lake, my last two days I felt good and did not even wear the knee brace. It felt a little swollen yesterday, but not as bad as before. God is good.
Is anyone in the group in hurricane territory? I know Ibrahim is. Keep he and his family in prayer for safety.
We aren't, although my husband was in Baton Rouge for work at the time of the storm, but he's back home safely now.

Hi All, I have a struggle. How do we deal with poeple who are anti Christian? Especially when they once had a commitment to Christ? I got back in touch with an old college friend through my hubby's facebook. This old friend has drifted into some kind of thing called the, "New Thought Movement." The books on his reading list are titles such as, Unchristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity and Why it Matters, By David Kinnaman. I am praying for him SO much, and my heart literally aches with this grief. It must be God doing something, because logic says I shouldn't feel this way, but I am SO moved to pray for several struggling souls who's lives have intermingled with mine lately. His name is Brett, if any of you feel so moved to pray.
This is my favorite group on goodreads. You are the most wonderful group of Christians, that I feel as if I know most of you (:
It sounds to me like you're doing the best thing for your friend, not only by praying yourself but by asking others to pray for him.
Nevermind logic! There is far too little prayer in the world. Your friends and acquaintances are very fortunate you care enough to pray for them.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I needed those words of encouragement. Thank you so much. I think deep down in my heart I knew that prayer in some of these situations is the only way. My old friend Brett probably won't respond to any logical arguments, but I believe that in time, kind words, prayers and remembering his birthday and such will hopefully show him God's love and faithfulness. Thanks again for the encouragement. God Bless ☺
