Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I just wanted to express my excitement at the two Amish books by Linda Byler that arrived today! I cannot wait to read the Lizzie Searches For Love series!

message 2: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I got mine yesterday too! I have 25% left of the book I am currently reading and I am jumping into these books too!

message 3: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I think it's really interesting that the author herself is Amish.

Brenda | 81 comments Camille, I have had mine for a couple of weeks, but have a few review books to read before I can start these, they look very good!

I'm putting them on my Christmas wish list from my in-laws -- all 3 books! That way I get a gift even after Christmas is over. :-)

I agree!

BTW Camille, thanks for your comment on my blog yesterday. I did go and look at your friend's website and I wrote a letter to Rusty. My keyboard was soaked with my tears but I know it helped! Thanks for mentioning it!

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments No problem Diane. I recently had to put my 5 year old dog down due to severe bone cancer that would have ruined his quality of life. I understand how much it can break someone's heart. My friend who started the site, Sharon, has helped a lot of people with beginning to heal with the site and I like to try to share it as a source of comfort for anyone going through such a tough time.

Diane U (djuseless) I am really enjoying Running Around (And Such)! It is more juvenille reading than adult but that is okay. It reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. I read about 120 pages last night while my hubby was out. I read all night and never turned the TV on. Man, it sure feels weird to hold a paper book though! LOL!

Sam | 5 comments Just received mine in the mail today. Excited to read them.

message 10: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I posted my full review. It wasn't my favorite but I have higher hopes for the second book in the series, which I have yet to begin.

I got mine too. Really want to read soon!

message 12: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I finished Running Around (And Such)! I really enjoyed it even though it was juvenille Amish fiction. It reminded me of Little House on the Prairie! Here is my full review:

I LOVED the first two books of the Lizzie series. Linda is my Old Order Amish friend who reads my books for authenticity...after she read the first one she called and said such nice things I sat down and cried. She said she could tell I loved the Amish...she is so dear and so funny!

Somehow I read the messages about Linda out of order. Scroll down and you'll see what I wrote about this sweet woman and wonderful writer.

message 15: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Hey Barbara, How many books did Linda Byler write about Lizzie? I was checking on Amazon and noticed that there are several Lizzie stories in the Buggy Spoke Series. Do you know whether the Lizzie Searches For Love Series is a reprint of some of those books or are they totally new? Thanks for any info you can provide.

message 16: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Mom's Pace wrote: "From what I've read on the covers, they are a reprint/combination of these books. Running Around (and Such) includes materials originally published as: Lizzie, Lizzie and Emma, Lizzie's Carefree Ye..."

Thanks,I guess I will have to read the covers :). When I start reading an author I like I try to read everything they have written, I was going to purchase the Buggy Spoke series but guess I don't need to.

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments I posted my review of Running Around (And Such) over at my blog, Linda Byler's writing style reminds me alot of another author who was Amish. Has anyone heard of Carrie Bender? She wrote a couple of series about young Amish Girls growing up and the trouble they got into.

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) It sounds like I need to check out these books, Diane described them as being like Little House on the Prairie which I adored growing up!

I haven't heard of Carrie Bender, does she write kids books? We should add her to our lists!

message 19: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Rachel,
Yes she wrote several juvenile fiction book about growing up Amish, she would write several in a series about a particular character, here is the link to one of many of the books she wrote, http://www.amazon.com/Birch-Hollow-Sc....

The thing I remember about her was that she was actually an Amish lady as well.

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Rachel, Another Amish series I remembered reading is written by Barbara Workinger, they were adult Amish mysteries that were great reads, here is the link to the two books in that series, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=ntt_athr_...

I really enjoyed reading these mysteries and was disappointed when Ms. Workinger didn't continue with it.

message 21: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Barbara, Could you tell us which Amish newspaper Ms. Byler writes for? I love reading The Budget,I always purchase it whenever I make a trip to Sugarcreek, and even had a subscription to it at one time.

message 22: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (atimetolove) | 99 comments The two books currently out by Linda (Running Around...and Such and When the Strawberries Bloom) are drawn from the Buggy Spoke series which Linda originally self-published and sold in outlets where visitors to the area bought Amish books. Now the Buggy Spoke series will not be sold any more because they are being revised into the Lizzie Searches for Love series by her current national publisher. So no, don't buy the Buggy Spoke series...

Sorry, I can't remember the newspaper she writes for ... am sending her something to read in the next few days so I can ask but it'll take a while to hear. Not sure if she still has time to write for that paper since she's working on a new book and has seven kids of varying ages.

message 23: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Wow, Linda writes books and has seven kids? I seriously admire that! I hope that when I have kids of my own I'll still find time to be creative.

message 24: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 81 comments Linda sounds like a very busy lady, please pass on to her how much we are enjoying her books, I am anxious to read anything she writes!

message 25: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (atimetolove) | 99 comments I will let Linda know. I featured her on AmishHearts.com back when her first book came out (you can scroll backwards on the website) and I like to send her copies of reviews and things as I find them on the Internet.

Some of her kids are grown but the times we've been on the phone I can tell you that it sounds like a dynamic house!

message 26: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments How amazing to have such a great friendship with her. She sounds like an outstanding woman. I cannot even fathom seven kids, especially seven kids PLUS being a published author!

message 27: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (atimetolove) | 99 comments I'm very grateful for our friendship and for her taking the time to look over my manuscripts.

Re the 7 kids: I had two kids and thought I'd lose my mind sometimes!
