Very interesting! I found myself pretty charmed by the Cockney slang, by the end of it all. Also I agree w/Burgess's point, it is a necessary obfuscation of the sheer pornographic violence that makes up the bulk of the story.
I don't know what this says about me, but I'm pretty glad Y.H.N. was tortured and had the shit kicked out of him a few times, I only wish he'd been forced to endure it all for a lot longer before the Government lost its nerve and succumbed to the bad press. I did not feel the slightest whiff of sympathy for him in Part III. Would Burgess say "I've made my point" if I shared this with him? I'm no better or worse than Alex? There's no such thing as "good" or "evil" - just choice?
