Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments Let's use this thread for anything that we want to talk about, not just books. Huh, don't know where am going with this...about a month ago i read almost 4 books within the week and since then i haven't read even a single page!

Anyways here we are and off i go, after a long day spent doing nothing but browse through the Goodreads!

ok this may be the wrong place to post this but does any1 know good sites to stream music/radio from. the ones i know..( www.deezer.com and www.musicovery.com) expect u sign up first. Thats something i dun wanna do.

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments i use www.grooveshark.com pretty neat, allows me to make up my own playlists. But i think it's also quite confusing with every song being shown by it's album name, takes time to get used to

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

thanks Aditya! :)
going thro it now! looks good!

message 5: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments Welcome hazel. That's abt my only contribution this drowsy monday. Looks like am anesthetized ;-)

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

oh oh! moday blues huh?
or is it "post holiday-first day being a monday- monday blues"? lol!

message 7: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments it's the "post long holiday with sleepless nights followed by a Monday early morning drive-monday blues" syndrome! Oh yeah, it helped that boss was on leave on today ;-)

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

lucky u!
my colleague took off for the holiday since apparantly i dont "celebrate" diwali, so i landed up not only working a holiday but also having to do overtime!
bright side: i dont have the monday blues! ;)

message 9: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments yeah lucky me! If it's Monday blues yday it's Tuesday dark-blue tday! BTW, yday's novel 'How to Disappear Completely' did gimme some queer dreams and made me sleep till 9 in the morning :-)

I just love it when I vicariously live through my novels. I used to get these weird dreams of war and hiding in jungles, for one whole month, while and after reading 'gone with the wind'. Somehow, though terrifying it was enjoyable too.

message 11: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments hmm...yeah the dreams are good if they remain dreams. I generally have a tendency to 'walk n talk' in sleep. Hence am scared to sleep in office but couldn't help sometimes!

message 12: by Shreeya (new)

Shreeya (outsider) | 69 comments The last speed-read session was with Steig Larsson's Millenium trilogy. Overall, a good read - got through all 3 books in about 4-5 days. It might be because I read them in one hit, but by the end of the third book, it seemed a bit too formulaic - my only (current) gripe.

message 13: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments Just watched the deathly hallows part-I trailers, got me so pumped up, looks like it's time for revision of the novel, again! Booked slots for advanced tkts at the IMAX 3D, keeping my fingers crossed!

The kids are no longer kids, the cutey Hermione is now beautiful and even Ron seems to have lost his stupid-ish look and looks more macho now.

message 14: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments Just learnt that the plans to release part-I in 3D are shelved as they are behind schedule, how sad. Hope atleast part-II makes it to the schedule!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

omg! Im a goodreads addict!
Promised myself i'd work on my S.O.P which is long overdue and wouldnt open this site, as i get stuck!
Think i'll havta start working on the sop with a pencil and sheet of paper rather than MS Office if i ever want to get it done!

message 16: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments y don't u start a thread in goodreads titled SOP and just do ur work there? :-P

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

lol!
actually that gives me an idea ... have youll ever played that game where one person says a word then in connection the next person says another until it goes on as a never ending sentence!
my SOP can wait another day!

message 18: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments nope i didn't play that, sounds interesting n similar to the word association game except that the next word shud be a part of a meaningful sentence..

I donno abt your SOP but am sure we can wait one more day for the game :-)

message 19: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
good idea. But then the sentence would be never ending ....???

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah! n yes it doesnt have to make sense in the long run.. my cousins n i used to play it when we were younger its kinda fun!

message 21: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
Yeah we'll start. I'll join in tomorrow. My son is waiting impatiently for me to start quizzing him on his school subjects.

message 22: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments :-) Poor Hazel, going back to SOP then?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

lol! one of you'll start the thread... when youll have the time :)
the ones i start normally get jinxed! hehe!

message 24: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments ok, let Smitha start it tmrw then

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

SOP? no way! started reading Princess bride! Actually youll are partly to blame for me not doing my SOP! who asked you'll to note down so many sites i can download books from! ;)

message 26: by Shreeya (new)

Shreeya (outsider) | 69 comments Oh man, we used to play tell a story all the time at uni. It usually degenerated into something sickening pretty quickly. I think the worst involved a blender and green mush and all sorts of fun things.

message 27: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 09, 2010 06:42AM) (new)

lol! "tell a story" is what its called? Couldnt recollect the name all this while!

message 28: by Shreeya (new)

Shreeya (outsider) | 69 comments That's just what I decided to call it - I think it might have been one-word-story. I find it works better with one sentence at a time.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never played the "one sentence at a time" one.
that sounds like fun too!

message 30: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments hazel, looks like u got more ppl to blame now!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

groan! trying to work on my SOP and keep goodreads open at the same time!
im not too good at multi-tasking! My SOP is going for a toss! lol!

message 32: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments goodreads shud go into ur SOP as one of the purposes! going home now...looking fwd to the new thread tmrw.

Hi, finally managed to have some 'me time' - my son is peacefully sleeping after throwing a tantrum about a missing Maths note book ( which still remains missing by the way)
I really love the idea of story telling. We used to play that a lot as kids. You start off and stop abruptly, the next person continues, finally we end up with a bizarre sheherzade type story.

message 34: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments looks fun...just watching Gothika on HBO, pretty spooky, Halle Berry is impressive!

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Smitha did you'll find the note book? :)

message 36: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
Yeah. It was in his classroom.
..

message 37: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments today's night show is rakth charitra, anyone of u saw that one?

message 38: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
No. Haven't heard of it. A movie?

message 39: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments yeah, it is, quite a 'bloody' movie, right from the start till the end! Based on a true factionist story in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. I doubt if those outside AP will like it, wonder why Ram Gopal Verma decided to release it in Hindi too!

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

whats it called in the RGV version?

message 41: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments RGV version? u mean telugu version?

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

rakth charitra is in hindi or telugu?

message 43: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments its called the same in both Hindi and telugu, maybe the words rakth and charitra are sanskrit based words!

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

oh ok! :)

message 45: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
I feel queasy watching such movies, but my husband is a fan of such real life movies with blood shed and political intrigues

message 46: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments :-) my wife hates them too, so while she was studying i was watching the movie alone!!!

message 47: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments hazel, SOP done?

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah! Finally took to doing with a notebook and a pencil!;)
May not submit it, is a totally different story! :(

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

why is it that in general most guys love the head bashing, blood oozing and car crashing kind of movies???

message 50: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments maybe we like them more only because the fairer sex seem to be repulsed with such sights! And it's not just guys, i know of a lot many girls (the bold n tom-boyish types) too who like them, and that's because it proves they are so unlike the stereo-typed women!

just a possible theory :-)
