((this is super random and i have no idea where the heck it came from, but here goes!)

Jeremiah Pincher stared blankly out the grimy window as the rain tumbled down against the waves. How did he get here? What did he do? Up on deck, he could hear the captain shouting orders at the crew, bailing salt water back into the screaming sea. True, they were wet, cold, hungry, and almost certainly miserable, but, oh! How Jeremiah longed to be one of them! Making an honest living on the sea, that had always been his dream, and now more than ever. Sitting there, below decks, in his tiny cell, with nothing but a single window, Jeremiah wished more than anything to be up on the deck, salty air whipping through his dark, unruly hair, nothing but the grand expanse of the ocean before him.
But no. He was trapped, a prisoner of the captain. Now, if only he could remember why....

(i think i might actually go somewhere with this one..... any ideas, folks?????)

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Suddenly a crew member came down and glanced at him. Then laughed a cruel laugh, "Stupid boy."

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

(wow... this gives me inspiration!)
Jeremiah sighed. If only he hadn't been caught as a stowaway.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

That was it! Now Jeremiah remembered everything: Trysten had threatened Jeremiah, saying that he had best leave the city by noon the next day or....
He rubbed his head thoughtfully, still bruised from the painful blow that he had received (had it really been a week ago now?) to knock him out. "That'll teach ya'," the captain had said. "I hope you find your cell...... nice and cozy!" He had chuckled cruelly, and left Jeremiah laying there, alone

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Trysten... why did he threaten him? He was like a brother at first to Jeremiah. But after the first few months...

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, Jeremiah assumed they had grown apart because Trysten was opposed to the way Jeremiah made a living. And he supposed he couldn't blame him-- pick-pocketing certainly wasn't an honest job. But even when the friendship was clearly over, Jeremiah had never felt any hostility coming from Trysten.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Trysten went over to the dark side. Well that's at least what he called the british guards.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah found it quite sad... and ashamed. Trystan? A British Guard? He hated the british.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

(wait is that what trysten calls them or jeremiah?)

As Jeremiah thought, trapped in his miniscule cell, it occurred to him that maybe, Trysen had actually helped him. As a british guard, it was duty to arrest and persecute Jeremiah for pick-pocketing. "Leave, now," he had said. "If you're still in the city tomorrow, I'll have you arrested." "On what charges?" Jeremiah had asked, to which Trysten had replied, "Just. GO."
Now it all made sense. He wanted Jeremiah to leave so that he wouldn't have to arrest him. A wonderful plan, if only Jeremiah hadn't messed it all up and landed himself in a prison cell.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

(jeremiah and Trystan)
He sighed. Where would he end up now? with himself in this cell he might be walking the plank tomorrow or sold into slavery.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

(i got it XD)

Unless he could escape...... But no, Jeremiah decided. Over the past week, he'd had plenty of time to think, and he had decided that he was through with living outside the law. Even if he was forced to walk the plank, at least he could die an honest man.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard one of the sailors shout. "Land Ho!"

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Suddenly a flurry of activity erupted on the deck above Jeremiah, and he sighed with relief. So they weren't making him walk the plank, then.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

"Where is the boy?" He heard a dark voice demand.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Every ounce of relief that Jeremiah had felt only moments before quickly vanished. There were plenty of men and boys around him, also prisoners, but somehow he just knew they were referring to him.

((with over 100 members, you think we might have more than 3 people working on one story! :P :D :D :D))

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

(I know! But it's usually just me and callie! haha!)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

(ha! funny thing, that.....XD)

message 20: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 22, 2008 08:53AM) (new)

(back to the story!)
Sure enough, a large man with broad shoulders, dirty hair, and, overall, a positively grimy appearance came running down the stairs. "I'm 'ere to pick up a stowaway. Anyone 'ere?" he asked with a cruel smile.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah stared at the ground, refusing to keep eye contact with him.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

The burly man misunderstood the gesture as an act of fright, rather than defiance, which was what Jeremiah was going for in this instance. He knew what the man wanted: for him to look at the man with tears welling up in his eyes, begging for mercy. The mere thought was inexcusable, so Jeremiah just stared at the floor. "Aw, is the poor lad scared?" the sailor teased menacingly.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah felt anger rise and at last he looked up into the eyes of-
"Trysten!"

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

"You," Trysten scowled. "I thought I told ya' to GET OUT!"

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah was speechless. Trysten was here? He was supposed to be back at home!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Though, still, nothing made sense to Jeremiah, he stifled his surprise and said, as calmly as he could "Indeed, you did. And did I not in fact leave?"
Trysten growled something unintelligible, then turned his gaze towards the captain, who had just made his way down the steps. "Oy, Cap'n, I know this man. He ain't a stowaway, he's my, er, guest, ya might say."
The captain raised a quizzical eyebrow then shrugged. "As you please, Trysten. I'm not a violent man, ya know, so long as he didn't steal nothing, I guess I can let him go. Congrats, Jeremiah, yer free." The captain's smile quickly disappeared, and he shouted, "What're ya doin? Get up on deck! Drop the anchor! We're makin land! GO GO GO!"
As Trysten scurried after the captain he mumbled softly to Jeremiah, "Ya owe me. I mean it."
And Jeremiah watched, with a smile on his face, as his friend, his best friend walked away.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

((helllllooooooo???)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

(I'm on!)

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah thought deeply of what this could mean.
He had just let him go, yet he had still been so mean the previous years.
Why was he nice now?

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah decided to temporarily dismiss that thought, and instead focus on his newfound freedom. Where was the ship stopping?

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

((good question))

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

((hehe. Let's see... Let me think... :_))

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

((uhhh...... well, on another note, i posted this in fantasy, but do you think we should make it fantasy-y or just move it somewhere else? is that even possible? but anyway, yeah, where should the boat go....????))

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

((I like fantasy, it's the only one I'm really good at anyway.))

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

((me too.))

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

((yeah same here. okay then should the boat actually be like some secret group of magical ppl going to a big magical person meeting on some magical person island??? well, that sounds stupid, but you know what i mean =D=D=D=D=D))

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

((yeah, totally!))

message 38: by Koori no hi (new)

Koori no hi thats a good idea but I like where ur going with the other parts. maybe Jeremiah finds out Trysten saved him from being sold as a slave

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

((I like the magic stuff. btw, use these ()thingy's when we're off topic.))

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

((Jeremiah has some gift and they were going to get him into a thing of trouble and stuff and a new adventure starts!))

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

((well, i think Trysten definitely saved Jeremiah, but what if instead of being sold as a slave, they were just going to execute him or make him walk the plank.)

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

((WAIT! by george, i've got it!!! okay, so here we go: all the ship's mates are actually a secret band of people with magical powers. The ship is headed for an island which is invisible to those without magical abilities, and now, all the magical people in the world are coming to meet on this island to discuss the rise of a super powerful evil magician. So Jeremiah was a stowaway on what he thought was just a regular ship, and they were going to have to kill him so that he wouldn't give away their secret. But now Trysten saved him, so Jeremiah's going to have too tag along and pretend he's magical (though he still doesn't know he's on a magic boat). BUT then when he gets off the boat, he sees the island, and Trysten tells him that, as it turns out, he too has magical abilities, and has to help them defeat the evil guy. WHEW!))

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

((was that all in one breath?))

message 44: by Koori no hi (new)

Koori no hi what's wrong I can't see any land. that guy up in the nest just said he sighted land. Jeramiah focused on the horison. he thought he saw something shimmering but then it was gone. was it his imagination? "I'm sure I saw something," he mumbled, leaning farther over the ship's railing.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

(Augh! I've been waiting like an hour! Hurray!))

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Suddenly hands grabbed him from behind. Jeremiah whirled around, expecting the worst, but of course, it was only Trysten. His eyes were fierce and wild, and he looked far more serious than Jeremiah had ever remembered seeing him. "What did you say?" growled Trysten. Jeremiah was frightened. "I said I- I saw something, but then it was gone, and- where's the land? I saw something, I'm sure, but maybe it's just my eyes reacting to having been in the dark so long--"
"Wait," interupted Trysten. "Look out at the water. Do you see anything?" Jeremiah turned around slowly and there was an island, as though it had been there all along! "An island!"

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Trysten let his breath out. "Are you sure?" He asked.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremiah nodded vigorously. "Trysten, it's an island. It's not the sort of thing you can miss."

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Trysten chuckled. "You have no idea... you have to come and see the captain, immediately."

message 50: by Koori no hi (last edited Jul 27, 2008 12:18PM) (new)

Koori no hi "Well this puts u in an entirely different situation. Jere, I'll explain this later right now I've got to help them get this ship to port." he turned and went to start tightening a rope, "After all, there's few enough people on this ship who actually know how to sail. Now go see the captain."
