What three books would you most like to receive as gifts? List the title, author, and why you're interested in reading the book. Use what you know about picking books - especially using helpful web sites - to make your list.

There is no end of books I'd like to see under the tree this December. If I could pick three, they would be:

1. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. Many of my friends have read this and claim it is the best thing. Ever. I don't read much history, so I'd like to have it as a change of pace.
2. Lessons from a Dead Girl by Jo Knowles. This is a book Reed doesn't have and I'm curious to read. It has been challenged in a couple of different cases, and I firmly believe in reading material that disturbs people.
3. Rebound by Bob Krech. I haven't read a sports book in a while, and basketball isn't a sport I've ever read about. Baseball, football, soccer. But never hoop.

3.The Fall of Reach by Eric S. Nylund. I've had this book recommended to me by my cousin, he said it was a really good book and I'd like to read it to see if I'd want to read more books like it.

such as:

1. All Creatures Great and Smallby James Herriot. After reviewing it online I found out it had five star reviews, which is rare even for classic novels. I'm very fond of animals, a story about a veterinarian might not be so bad.
2. The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story. A research novel on doctors racing to fight off the deadly Ebola plague in Africa. I know...nice topic huh?!I've wanted to learn more about it ever since Biology Class.

William Powell | 7 comments On the top of my list of books for the hollidays is the Lockdown series consisting of Lockdown: Escape from Furnace, Furnace: Solitary, Furnace: Death Sentence I chose these books because I am currently half way through Lockdown: Escape From Furnace and it constantly has me on the edge of my seat and i never know what is going to happen next. I have never read a book like this one that keeps me that inertained and it makes me never want to stop reading. number 2 on my list is The Inventors series consisting ofThe Inventors, The Inventors and the City of Stolen Souls. I chose these books because this author has became my top author and by far my favorite and I look forward to reading more of his books, also, i read alot of reviews on here about the series and they were all good reviews and i read the summary about it and it makes me want to read it more. Last and final on my list is Scribbler of Dreams because some people have recommended it to me and also there have been some really good reviews and even know its not a book i normally would read im willing to go out of my comfort zone and try some new things.

message 29: by Sanisi (new)

Sanisi Talanoa | 6 comments The three books I am hoping to see under the christmas tree are:

1.Sold by Patricia McCormick. I have only heard great things about this book, I mean it won the national book award. Here's a peice of the book someone used to comment about it here on Goodreads,

"In the days after the hugging man leaves, I consider myself in the mirror. My plain self, not the self wearing lipstick and eyeliner and a flimsy dress.

Sometimes I see a girl who is growing into womanhood. Other days I see a girl growing old before her time.

It doesn't matter, of course. Because no one will ever want me now." ... Interesting, isn't it?

2.The Geography of Girlhood by Kirsten Smith. I am interested in this book because I feel that being a girl, I will have much in common. Plus the ratings on this book are pretty high, so it must be good.

3.The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. I loved all of his books that I've read and can't help but want to see more of his great work.
