Acne is a big problem with teenagers these days. With all the pizza, chips, and soda, it’s hard to resist a taste! Laying off these fattening snacks can really help stop the pimples, blackheads, bumps, etc. Most junk food has a lot of fat and too much fat is bad for you. This doesn’t mean you should never eat anything with fat! Fat is needed to maintain healthy skin too. Fat contains vitamin A, D, E, and K so yes we still need it, but in moderation. Some fats are not produced by your body and the only way to get them is by food so watch your diet and drink plenty of water. Water cleans out toxins inside your body so be sure to get your eight glasses a day! Also, sleep is essential to clear acne. Your body heals when you’re asleep. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing! Your diet isn’t the only thing that leads to acne. Actually, it’s our hormones. No, I’m not here to preach about puberty! Our hormones get a little on the wacky side during our teens and our body produces excessive amounts of certain cells and oils. Don’t be fooled! You still have to moisturize! If you constantly scrub and wash your face, this can only lead to your body producing even MORE oils. Exfoliating twice a week will help unclog pores and remove oil. Be sure to wash your face with mild soap everyday. DO NOT pick, pop, or peel anything on your face! Keep hands away from your face as much as possible to avoid any unnecessary oil from clogging pores. Also, try to lay off the cosmetics. They all cause pimples. If you can live without your beautiful shades and glitter, use natural or water based makeup.
