I finished reading The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley yesterday, and I still can't stop thinking about what a good book it is. I was wondering if anyone else who's read it and enjoyed it as much as I did could recommend some other historical romance novels that they've found to be just as good. Thanks :)

Michelle, that is a hard one. I only wish that there were more unique H/h's to read about. The one thing that I still gush about when I think about that book is the whole eye thing...oh man! Here are some other ones that I loved as much or almost as much:
(the heroine has a fun sense of adventure)
(time travel story that had me almost in tears--the ending is a bit controversial- some ppl loved it and some didn't (I did)).
(reads like a historical, but is supposed to be a contemporary--one of my favorite love stories, if not my favorite. One of the rare books in which I wasn't annoyed by the heroine)
(another really sweet love story)I'll post others if I can think of some others.

Thanks Gigi! I'll have to look into some of those.
I NEED to read this book! I've had it for awhile and haven't gotten around to it yet... maybe I'll be able to once I finish my Nov. Challenge.

Megan, you really should. I think everyone should read it once, even if you're not a fan of historicals. The hero is so unique. Definitely worth reading!

I've only read

But its the only book I've read by JA, so I don't know much about her other series.

Sorry I was on another thread about this book. I finished it last week. I loved that Ian wasn't the normal cookie-cutter hero character, but I didn't really connect with him. Really enjoyed his single-mindedness in the beginning though. Loved Beth's character though, thought she was a marvelous, modern woman who wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted without fearing the need to conform to the rules of society.
As for the plot, I really enjoyed the first 2/3, but that last part seemed so rushed and written chaotically. Not sure if I will continue the series at this time. Historical's generally are not my thing, but the sub-characters in this book were interesting. I really enjoyed Daniel in particular.
