1. Dragonrider by Cornelia Funke. Just because it was a nice story! Although it would fit in the themed read, as well.

2. I second (or third) Harry Potter, also. Any of the books would be a great re-read!

K.S.R. (kareyshane) | 77 comments 1. Non-themed: Mockingbird
2. Themed: Secret Speakers and the Search for Selador's Gate.

Secret Speakers and the Search for Selador's Gate was given a starred review by the School Library Journal where it was compared to the Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Wizard of Oz novels.

The main character has spent the last nine years of hear life living in a cellar. The story revolves around displaced, enslaved children.

Anyone interested?

message 9: by Lahni (new)

Lahni 1. Number the Stars by Lois Lowry I've wanted to read this book forever but have never gotten around to it.

2. The Devil's Paintbox by Victoria McKernan I recently learned of this book and it looks promising.

Karey, did you mean to nominate the book The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney, Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine or To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee? Your link goes to TKAM...

Would you like one of us to get a poll up, Fiona?

message 18: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I've sent a message to both of our moderators. Hopefully we'll see a poll soon. The holidays are always chaotic.

message 19: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I didn't hear anything back, so I put up the polls. I hope nobody minds!

Lol... that's what I get for trying to fill your shoes! I didn't send out invites (forgot to even try!) and didn't look to see if we'd read anything before. I'm not sure if she actually meant to nominate TKAM anyway, because the title and the link were different. I went with the link...

Sorry you've been feeling crappy. That's no fun at the holidays!!
