to me, old is a state of mind not an actual age. In my opinion you are old when you live only in the past with only the friends you have had all your life. you are old when you listen only to the music you listened to in the past. when you stop growing as a person. when your curiousity for the world out there dies. when you live in the past, not the now. The true purpose of grandchildren is to keep their grandparents connected to the now.

I agree with Lindsay. You might be 'young at heart' but ur still closer to an inevitable death than most teenagers... or young adults, or kiids.
Amina, I was "older" at 16 than I am at almost 63. My sister said I was the only person she knew who got younger as she aged. I believe it is because my mind and beliefs began expanding. I was a very rigid thinker at 16.
Yes, that might be true... but like your still older than most of us here... just because your young at heart, nobody would say your younger than me, even if I was old at heart..

Interesting debate. Some say that old is a feeling others say it is a condition (Maybe not the best word choice but you get what I mean) ...Where people are concerned I tend to think it is a bit of both, but it wieghs more on the feeling side.
I believe if someone feels they are young, they are probably happier and more lively.
It would seem to me that the body would follow suit. People that feel young are probably healthier. Younger But I'm just guessing.
My dads 47.. He's not old -.- lol!And my grandpa is like eighty, and I can say he's not old either because he's so active and everything:) he's still not retired
But that's just it, who's to say what old is?What is old to you may not be old to someone else. And also as I stated earlier to some, old is a feeling to others its a condition. I don't think old can be defined by a specific age.
And Mina when you're 40 you might think differently. lol
But they are still old! I mean, even my dad just turned "old" a few days ago! gahahah. my mum still has a few years :P
I don't think 40's old. I think you're starting to get old when you hit your mid-60's maybe... But it all depends. There's old in body and old in mind. For me, that's two different things.
Yeah exactly. So I say, first choose which topic we are debating on; old in the mind, or old old?! I was kidding! 40 is okay, I guess. 60-70 you get oldddd. 100 is very old. 120, oi, what're you doing alive? hahaha

I joined this group because I am old physically. I like to call myself "old as dirt" and I'm actually getting proud of my age. I turned 70 several days ago. We are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and have ages in each of these. To say that the physical is the most important is to not understand the importance of the rest of the quadrants. It's true that the physical returns to source and breaks down as everything physical does, but the rest does not have to go with it. For instance, if a person cannot entertain and idea and instead always rushes to defend his point of view, that could be considered mentally young, not advanced. Emotionally young would be having a lack of self worth. Spiritually young would not have an understanding of the "unseen" controlling the "seen" in life. Hopefully, one gets wiser as one gets older, but that is not always the case. I have just written my first book ever, which is an understanding of what is in control in life (truth) and how to find and complement it. It has been a culmination of an interest of mine since I was in my 20s. Thank goodness, I am able to understand a lot more now than I did then!! The physical is the least important.
It is said we are here to learn the lesson of "play die." We are learning that we never die, we just change form, as all of nature does. Our most valuable quadrant is the spiritual where we learn that spirit and attitude are the most important in life and with these we can overcome anything.

Attitude won't come in handy when you can barely speak. Being physical is the most important thing since we all think, talk and wish... to actually out ur words into actions is a big thing..
"...barely speak" ? Attitude is everything especially when you can barely speak. It is the inner motivation that determines the nature of how we speak out loud and how we feel inside. It has to do with emotion and feeling--fear, anger, acceptance, love, etc. It is what prompts us to speak, as condescending vs helpful. Being (attitude) controls what we do and what we have. A book that exemplifies this well is Viktor Frankel's "Man's Search for Meaning." He was able to find inner peace and acceptance in a German concentration camp. It's what is inside of us that is in control always. It controls our thoughts. "Thoughts become things. Choose good ones." Blessings, Pat

oldie! LOL jk :)
Actually, I don't think the physical is the most important. Sure, it must suck to not be able to do the things you want to, but it's not the most important thing. I think that, in some ways, old is when you accept that you're old. When you accept that you've lived the life you lived, and that you're now in another place than you were 40 years ago. You accept that you go to do some things, and never got to do other. I think old is when you can sit down, look back at your life and be content about it.
old is when u think that you're alone and that no one loves you..it's when you don't accept the advice from friends and family and always wanted your rules to be followed... you're old when you're not able to forgive small mistakes and when you think that others don't care about you..that's old for me...
