Hey! Haven't had a lot of activity here in a while so I started a new topic. Share the books you find boring, dull, etc.

IMO, I could not grow to like Knight Angels by Abra Ebner
Book of Love (Knight Angels, #1) by Abra Ebner

or

(as much as I hate to say it)
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay was a big let down for me. Anyone else want to share?

Oh, there's too much to put down.

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 177 comments Bahaha...

The Seven Deadly Sins series! I got to the 3rd book and haven't finished them! ... Lust (Seven Deadly Sins, #1) by Robin Wasserman

Or Wintergirls. I just couldn't get into it! I didn't like how it was written. ... Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

But that's just my opinion.

I've had Wintergirls on my shelf since April...I took one look at the first couple of pages and have been procrastinating ever since. I like the cover though...main reason I bought it. Guess I really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover?

message 5: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 177 comments Lol...some times judging a book by the cover works out for me. I am a sucker for beautiful covers! But with Wintergirls, I just couldn't get into it. Oh, well! That's why I won't usually buy a book just by looking at the cover. I have to read the 1st chapter! People in the book stores look at me weird when I grab a book off the shelf and sit down right there and start reading!

That last sentence really made me laugh! It takes me forever to pick out books. Usually walking back and forth between the aisles for an hour. I always go in with a twenty and nothing else in my purse so that I don't go overboard, but that makes it harder because I can never choose!

Another crash and burn...or maybe crash and incinerate. Once again, bought it for the cover >.<

Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin

message 7: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 177 comments I completely understand where you are coming from, Patti! And that book ... it is on my to-read list! Why is it a bad apple?

I read the ending to that book...and it sucked.

The ending just ruined everything for me. It felt sloppily put together. And some of the things I just couldn't believe. It was too far fetched.

message 11: by Alice (new)

Alice (aliciairene) I didn't like that much Impulse & Initiative A Pride & Prejudice Variation by Abigail Reynolds . It was highly disturbing...so P&P fans: don't you ever read it!

message 12: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 177 comments Thanks for the heads-up!

message 13: by Alice (new)

Alice (aliciairene) Gosh, you should've seen my bff when she finished the book. She went crazy on me. She said it was blaphemy-which I couldn't but agree that it was.
It was really amusing her reaction though.

Joy (Cheery♡Reads) (cheerybell) | 3 comments I was excited for Zombies vs. Unicorns. The cover is amazing but when I finally got it, I was very disappointed. It bore me to death.
Zombies vs. Unicorns by Holly Black

~Tormiester~ (hatsoff343) | 363 comments Mod
Seriously? I was gonna look into that book... How bad is it???

Joy (Cheery♡Reads) (cheerybell) | 3 comments That's just my opinion because it was boring. Most of the stories. But opinions may differ according to individuals.

message 18: by Erin (new)

Erin I didn't like The Forest of Hands and Teeth or Wintergirls. I have heard other people say how much they loved them. I read all of The Forest of Hands and Teeth, and I don't know, it was just kind of weird. And I could even get halfway through Wintergirls.

I agree with you completely. The main character in FOHT bothered me so much. She was just so whiny. I have wintergirls but I just can't get past the format to read it.

message 20: by Erin (new)

Erin I hated Mary in FOHT, but I did like the guy characters whose names I can't remember right now.

message 21: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 177 comments FOHT was like that for me too. It was a bit slow at times. But The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2) by Carrie Ryan is better.

Did NOT like Toads and Diamonds by Heather Tomlinson . Gah. SLOW and boring.

Ugh…I just can't get through Unearthly. I don't know why. Maybe the first person present tense?

message 26: by Carly (new)

Carly (wildlavender) The Wake Trilogy... Such a pathetic books in my opinon.

message 27: by Patti, The Reader (new)

Patti | 327 comments Mod
^ I just read the first Wake book. I thought it was ok but not something I'd run out to get the sequel for.

Could not grow to like The Eternal Ones (Eternal Ones, #1) by Kirsten Miller . Just something about it….irked me.

message 31: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (abrookec21) | 2 comments Across the Universe

of the YA series I have read this is definitely one I won't continue. I had really high hopes for it too :(

message 32: by Caryn (new)

Caryn Timeless (Timeless, #1) by Alexandra Monir

I really wanted to like this book, but it was dreadful. It seemed like it was written by a 10 year old. I guess I was expecting some more like:

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

message 33: by Patti, The Reader (new)

Patti | 327 comments Mod
Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright . I'm still reading this one, but, for once, it's not as good as the movie.

message 34: by Candice (new)

Candice (thecrj) The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff I saw this book on the Dark Days of Supernatural tour with Across the Universe and Matched. Thought I would give it a try. Just didn't interest me at all. Finished it, but can't say I would recommend it.

message 35: by ~Tormiester~, The Writer (new)

~Tormiester~ (hatsoff343) | 363 comments Mod
Nooooooooooooooo! Not the Replacement! I was looking forward to good reviews on it. =^(

The Romance Bookie (theromancebookie) | 9 comments I personally absolutely did not like "Life in the Fat Lane" by Cherie Bennett Life in the Fat Lane. This book had such a horrible story! It made me actually feel bad about myself! She put down every girl that might be a little bigger out there. Even though I expected the character to learn to respect bigger people, after finding out what it felt like herself, she never did! She was just a pure witch with a B, until the very end. She didn't learn anything! It was terrible! And I was really glad to read many reviews on this book that said the same thing, because at first I thought I had missed something while reading it, and was the only one who hated it!

And I am seriously not a difficult person to please when it comes to Young Adult and romance novels! I was expecting to read a good inspiring story about a girl who knew what it felt like when people made fun of someone who might be a little bigger, but learning to deal with it, and become a better person because of it, but NO! She didn't!

message 39: by Patti, The Reader (new)

@Amanda- Do you mind me asking why you disliked Percy Jackson?

@Anne- I agree with you about Twilight. Well mostly the hype. There should be a thread for overrated books!

message 40: by Amanda (new)

Amanda To me the Percy Jackson series was boring... I mean I like the first one, but then I read the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th book... and I just couldn't get into it :(

message 41: by ~Tormiester~, The Writer (new)

~Tormiester~ (hatsoff343) | 363 comments Mod

message 48: by Claire (new)

Claire A Northern Light. I wanted to like it beacaus I like Jennifer Donnely but it was so boring!!!

message 49: by Kim (new)

Kim I did not like the Twilight series. Bella was to whiny for my taste.
I also did not care for Untamed (House of Night #4), this book just seemed to lose focus of the main story line. I couldn't finish the book.

message 50: by Patti, The Reader (new)

Ugh I recently read The Hollow (The Hollow, #1) by Jessica Verday . So many plot holes! If he's a ghost and can't touch anything, how can he eat cookies and change his clothes daily?

Or, a book I really had hopes for: Intertwined (Intertwined, #1) by Gena Showalter . I think I just don't like Gena Showalter.

Twilight got on my nerves, especially Breaking Dawn. The only somewhat redeemable character for me, Jacob, was turned into a pedophile…but that's another rant for another day.
