Sashana Have a book you’d like to see on the big screens? This is the place to list them. List your top ten (more or less) books that you want to see made into a movie.

Sashana These books aren't on my wish list but they are currently being made into movies: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald The Help by Kathryn Stockett , and Little Red Riding Hood by Brothers Grimm .

Sans The Great Gatsby is being made into a film in a few months, and there were versions out in 1974 and 2000.

New version is starring Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio and Baz Luhrman is directing.

Sashana You don't like books being turned into movies, Sabrina?

Heather | 504 comments Sashana, they are making a Little Red Riding Hood movie with girl from Dear John and Letters to Juliet (damn her name is escaping me right now). It looks dark and sexual in the previews..

I haven't seen the previews yet but I'd like to know how the heck someone would make poor little red sexual.

Heather | 504 comments Well, it looks like there is a love triangle or something. I bet you can Google it..

Katherine I need suggestions for a movie etc. For Christmas I want to put a box together with some books, movies and snacks for my Dad's wife. She is 70 and still very active. She wouldn't want anything too violent or steamy...any help would be appreciated.

Shay | 923 comments For candies: http://www.retrocandyonline.com/hardc... You can also just Google classic or retro candies and get candy by decade, so for her 50's candy from when she was a kid. I think, also, that Amazon has a bunch of candy sellers.

Oh, what does she read and like to watch on TV now?

message 12: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I'm not sure what she reads, but she likes things like DWTS, NCIS, Castle...she hates sports.

message 13: by Shay (new)

Shay | 923 comments Sounds like she likes mysteries/detective shows. There are a lot of classic movies like The Thin Man, Sherlock Holmes. Or classic TV mystery series- I think they just did a new Sherlock Holmes series, Inspector Morse, Agatha Christie, Hamish Macbeth. Sorry, I can only think of British ones but I know most of those were released in the US.

Katherine Thanks Shay there are some great ideas there. I love the British ones so that is fine.

Sans Have you seen the new Sherlock series? I'm completely in love with it. Steven Moffat took the original stories and updated them for modern London. There are three ninety minute episodes in series one (currently available on DVD). Highly recommended!

Katherine I'll have to see if Netflix has them. I always loved Sherlock Holmes.
