Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I read this a couple of years ago. It's a good Christmas read. I've got Debbie Macomber's Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber and Call Me Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber on tap for December.

Priscilla | 127 comments If I can get this from the library I would love to read this!! I enjoyed her second book in the series better than the first. I have been checking my library for a while so I hope I can get it!! Such a beautiful cover too ;)

message 10: by Kim (last edited Nov 23, 2010 07:10PM) (new)

Kim (catmommie) Sounds good! We'll just read over the month, whenever we get to it and put our two cents in as we go along. I'm already doing another buddy read for the beginning of Dec.

Melodie, Susan, and Jeannie, you can still join in. :)

Miki | 148 comments If I can get this from the library, I will join in. I really liked the first one I read in this series, and have been meaning to read another.

message 13: by Sherrie (new)

Sherrie (vampirekisses2) | 426 comments Can't wait to get started on this book.

message 14: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments Starting this one tonight!

message 15: by Miki (new)

Miki | 148 comments I was just notified it is waiting for me at the library. Can't wait to pick it up. I will probably start reading it next week, after I finish the two I am currently reading.

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments Anyone else reading yet? I started the other day and am on about page 60- I'm trying to read slow and savor it since the book is pretty short (about 230 pages!) It starts off very festive (at a christmas cookie exchange party!) and the action gets going right away. I'm really enjoying this book!

message 17: by Sherrie (new)

Sherrie (vampirekisses2) | 426 comments I've started reading and will read more tonight. Not that far in to the story yet.

message 18: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (ladyvictoria5) | 218 comments I'm hoping to receive my copy from PBS this week and I'll begin.

message 19: by Miki (new)

Miki | 148 comments I started last night, but didn't get very far. I really like the way the author describes the setting. I feel as if I can really see the big fireplace and the table filled with cookies. I think that is what draws me to this author. I also like the interesting relationships between the friends. I like that Phyllis is such a nice person.

message 20: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments I'm on about page 100 and still really enjoying the book. It's a little different from the others in the series in that the characters aren't attending a cooking contest and practicing, etc. The cookie contest has already been entered by the time the book starts. But I'm at the part where they're starting to prepare for Christmas dinner so I'm still getting my food/cooking fix! :)

I have got the book so I'll try to read it... when I finishes my romance fix ;)

message 22: by Shay (new)

Shay | 408 comments I think the Pecan Pie Cookie sounds better than the Lime Snowflake. I'm thinking of making it this year. I'm thinking, though, of making them in a mini-muffin pan and doubling the filling and adding chopped pecans to the filling. You know, spreading the dough up the sides of the pan (not necessarily all the way) so there's a bigger depression for more filling, then top with a pecan.

message 23: by Miki (new)

Miki | 148 comments I think I have to try Sam's Fudgy Peanut Butter cookies. I love peanut butter with cholocate. I am also interested in the wild rice and cranberry cornbread stuffing. That sounds like something my whole family would eat.

message 24: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments I want to try the Pecan Pie and Fudgy Peanut Butter cookies too! They sound delicious and make me hungry as I read. I'm still in enjoying the book- I'm at about page 160 and I don't want it to end! I love all of the characters and I feel like I'm really in Phyllis's house sometimes.

message 25: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments I finished this book last night- it has a very satisfying ending and a little bit of a cliffhanger to make you look forward to the next in the series. It was such a "good read" haha!

message 26: by Sherrie (new)

Sherrie (vampirekisses2) | 426 comments I'm on page 103, planning on getting more read tonight.

Kim (catmommie) I'm stuck in my pen pal read...just can't spend any real length of time lately, to read. And, it's not due to holiday shopping or anything fun...

message 28: by Miki (new)

Miki | 148 comments I finished the book last night. I liked the number of subtle clues and the red herrings that added to my reading enjoyment. I am looking forward to reading her newest book now.

I've just begun it, and i like it so far. If it finishes in the same way, I'll be very thankful to you, because I wouldn't have read it, as I don't like her other series. I think the reason is the different main characters.

Sherrie (vampirekisses2) | 426 comments Finished the book today. I read the first in the series and didn't really like it but found this one to be much better. Think I will read book 2 and keep on with this series.

I finished the book some days ago, and I liked it a lot. I'm definitely going to read more books in this series.

message 34: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (ladyvictoria5) | 218 comments I finished The Christmas Cookie Killer (A Fresh-Baked Mystery, #3) by Livia J. Washburn and copied some of the recipes for later. I enjoyed the book and hope to enjoy the recipes. Thanks for setting up this buddy read.

message 35: by Kim (last edited Dec 27, 2010 11:59PM) (new)

Kim (catmommie) I started this last night and so far I like it. I do have the urge to smack Mike upside the head by page 40. He's more worried about finding the killer for knocking his mother over the head rather than the murder of Agnes. Arrogant wannabe.

no, definitely not fun, but glad it's over. We do have two Amazon gift cards that we bought as back-up gifts that we didn't need, so I get to go shopping online soon...wonder what I'll be looking for??

message 37: by Kim (last edited Dec 31, 2010 09:49PM) (new)

Kim (catmommie) I'm halfway done, page 138ish. Some people have said they don't like these characters and I can see why. At first I wasn't sure, felt a little annoyed by all the "old lady fussiness" and melodrama, but I adapted. lol And, I do have the urge to smack Mike upside the head. Eve reminds me of Blanche Devereaux.

message 38: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (anniec85) | 75 comments I just finished this book. I thought it was good and I was definitely surprised by the ending. I thought sometimes though that there were some scenes that had a bit too much unnecessary detail. I still enjoyed the book though and I'm glad I have it as a NookBook so I can make some of the recipes later (Sam's peanut butter cookies sound amazing!).

message 39: by Kim (new)

Kim (catmommie) Andrea, they do! The next time I hit Walmart, I'm picking up the big jar of pb.

message 40: by Kim (new)

Kim (catmommie) Ok, I finished it. Funny, the one who suggested it was the last to read it.

It wasn't bad, quite fluffy. Definitely didn't see the ending coming.

message 41: by Lalalalaaa (new)

Lalalalaaa | 19 comments Aw, crap, I missed it! I've wanted to read The Christmas Cookie Killer for so long. I'm going to read it next December... along with Gingerbread Cookie Murder !
