Hmr28 | 7 comments Hi,
I have just discovered cozies in the past year or so and find that I like the ones with romance in them like maggie barbieri (murder 101 series), Cleo Coyle's Coffeehouse mysteries, linda lael millers Mojo Sheepshanks, Merline Lovelaces Samantha Spade mysteries, etc. Can you all recommend some more in this vein? In terms of topics I like everything from paranormal to cooking/food, to crafting etc. I sense a whole new world of books headed my way!

Shay | 408 comments I like Deanna Raybourn's series that starts with Silent in the Grave. It won the Romance Writers of America award in 2008 for Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements. I don't like romances at all, but this is one of my favorite series.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Well, for paranormal there's always the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris! Kate Collins Flower Shop series has a bit of romance in them.

message 4: by Hmr28 (new)

Hmr28 | 7 comments Hi Shay!
Thanks for the suggestion, you must be a mind reader because I just finished that series (well the ones she has published so far). The nook had a bundle with the first three books for 9.99 (bargain!) and then I bought the other two. Very good series. I also read the first in the Tasha Alexnader series that is supposed to be similar but I did not like it nearly as much and decided not to continue with that series.

Hmr28 | 7 comments Hi Melodie,
I have read the Sookie books and think they are ok, but I LOVED her Harper Connlly and Lily Bard series's. I am going to go check out the bn store for the Kate Collins series.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Shay | 408 comments Lauren Willig's series that starts with The Secret History of the Pink Carnation? I know there's a Christmas one, too. Oh, and Jana Deleon has a few series that are humorous, romantic leaning mysteries.

message 8: by Katherine (last edited Nov 22, 2010 04:55PM) (new)

Katherine I LOVE the Pink Carnation series! Much better than the Tasha Alexander, though I must admit I've only read one of the Alexander books so may not be being fair since it is not a large enough sample of her books.

John The Haunted Bookshop series by Alice Kimberly develops a romance between the human shop owner and the ghost of the 1940's P. I. as the series goes on.

Diane ~Firefly~ | 325 comments Two great series (not quite a cozy, but not far off), with great relationships and awesome heroes.

A defense lawyer and his new legal clerk (Lydia) in the Texas panhandle. Great characters and the narrative switches between Lydia and Jenner (a cop). Probably only available used.
Murder By Impulse by Doris R. Meredith Murder By Deception (John Lloyd Branson Mysteries) by Doris R. Meredith Murder By Masquerade (Murder by) by Doris R. Meredith Murder by Reference by Doris R. Meredith Murder by Sacrilege by Doris R. Meredith

Slightly futuristic (by about 50 years) and set in NYC. Eve is a tough cop who had a horrible childhood and Roarke is mega-millionaire ex-thief who is totally swoon-worthy. The books really pick up around #3, when Eve gets a trainee and it is fun to watch all the characters grow. Just listed the first seven as there are over 20 books in this series.

Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb Glory in Death (In Death, #2) by J.D. Robb Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb Rapture in Death (In Death, #4) by J.D. Robb Ceremony in Death (In Death, #5) by J.D. Robb Vengeance in Death (In Death, #6) by J.D. Robb Holiday in Death (In Death, #7) by J.D. Robb

Actual cozies:
This series is just starting but has romance potential.
Sprinkle with Murder (Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #1) by Jenn McKinlay

Only two books so far, but a great relationship story (practically strangers marrying, he has to report for duty, she goes on with life as normal then he comes back and wants to be a husband).
Catnapped An Animal Instinct Mystery by Gabriella Herkert Doggone An Animal Instinct Mystery by Gabriella Herkert

Just a hint of romance so far, but lots of great characters and good stories. Just don't read while you're hungry.
The Diva Runs Out of Thyme (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #1) by Krista Davis The Diva Takes the Cake (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #2) by Krista Davis The Diva Paints the Town (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #3) by Krista Davis The Diva Cooks a Goose (A Domestic Diva Mystery. #4) by Krista Davis

And finally, not really a cozy and just the hint of romance so far, but a great read (if you like humor)
The Spellman Files (The Spellmans, #1) by Lisa Lutz Curse of the Spellmans (The Spellmans, #2) by Lisa Lutz Revenge of the Spellmans (The Spellmans, #3) by Lisa Lutz The Spellmans Strike Again (The Spellmans, #4) by Lisa Lutz

There are various romances in the Aunt Dimity books by Nancy Atherton. Aunt Dimity turned out to be quite the matchmaker.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments Yes, I do recall that Aunt Dimity put people together.

I LOVED it), the Cleo Coyle mysteries (good), Sheila Connoly's Series (good), Victoria Lauries Psychic Eye series (great), Merline Lovelace's series Samantha Spade (OMG so good), Lori Armstrong's Mercy Gunderson series (OMG so good), Terri Person's "Blind" series (OMG so good), Charlaine Harris's "grave" series (LOVED), and her "bard" series (LOVED).

Try reading Nancy Martin's Blackbird Sisters series. A bit different, very funny, with a romantic interest who makes you just want to melt....
