Amy I'm in!

message 3: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Me, too!

Do we exchange one bookmark or do we need to make one for each person involved? (I'm new ;)

message 4: by Amy (new)

Amy Usually we get a name emailed to us and we make one mark for that person.

message 5: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments I'd say I should be pretty well-rested by then, to be sure. ;p
I'm in!

message 6: by Amy (new)

Amy And plenty of time to start coming up with a book and an idea!

Cassie, please message me your address when you get a chance. I'm glad you decided to join in!

message 8: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cawils_99) I would like to join in and I'm new.

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Cheryl wrote: "I would like to join in and I'm new."

Glad to have you, Cheryl! Please message me your address when you get a chance.

message 12: by Jen (new)

Jen Do we have to make the bookmark - or can we exchange one we already have? I have a limited edition Mockinjay series - laminated - and I have one from the author of The Cinderella Society.

I'm new and I'm in if I can use one of those! Sorry - I'm not very crafty! :)

You are not obligated to make the bookmark. If you already have one that you'd like to share, feel free!

Should I add your name to our sign up list?

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm excited because I have my book and my idea already! That doesn't usually happen. So now I have tons of time to try and make what's in my head come out in a bookmark.

message 15: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments I have NOTHING. No idea what I'm making. I need to brainstorm.

message 16: by Jen (new)

Jen AngelaSunshine wrote: "Jen wrote: "Do we have to make the bookmark - or can we exchange one we already have? I have a limited edition Mockinjay series - laminated - and I have one from the author of The Cinderella Socie..."

Yes please - as long as no one in the group minds a non-homemade bookmark!

Beggars can't be choosers! :-)

Message me your address when you get a chance.

message 18: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Are there any images or lists of past bookmark creations?

message 19: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments In each thread, we post them after we open them.

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Cassie wrote: "Are there any images or lists of past bookmark creations?"

Yes, if you look at the group photos (link in upper right on this screen) you can see some of the ones we've done. There are also pics if you click through some of our past swap topics in the Member's Lounge area.

message 21: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Angela, thanks for that suggestion! I'm really pumped after seeing so many awesome creations. This is the most excited I've been about a bookmark in a long time.

message 22: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Yay, I'm glad we're all excited for the swap again. I think a break was just what we needed.

Please message me your address if you haven't already...

message 23: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I'm in. I don't know if I can finish a handmade bookmark. I'm working a lot of hours, but I'm going to give it a try. If time runs out, I'll send a pretty store bought bookmark.

message 24: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments I happened to glance at a book on my shelves the other day, and got a really cool idea for a bookmark. Here's to hoping it works...

message 25: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Hey guys, I nearly forgot! I will distribute names tonight after work. :-)

message 26: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments Heh heh. I had forgotten, too, until I looked at the book and thought, 'ooh, that'd make a good bookmark -- oh crap, the swap!'

message 27: by Angela Sunshine (last edited Feb 03, 2011 05:01PM) (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Ok, for past swaps I'd been trying to add in "rules" to my name generator so that nobody got stuck sending to the same person twice. But I'm going to nix the rules for this round, being a new year and all. Hope nobody minds if they get a repeat!! I'll be sending out info in just a few minutes.

message 28: by Amy (new)

Amy Yay! This one's an open swap right? Any book? It feels like I signed up for this so long ago I just about forgot.

message 29: by Cassie (new)

Cassie This is exciting! Does anyone have any advice for choosing books? Or, as Amy asked, are there any requirements to what we choose?

Maybe I should follow Misty's example and scan my shelves for inspiration.

message 30: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Yep, this round is maker's choice. You can use any YA book you'd like!

Cassie, if you're swap buddy isn't set to private, maybe you want to see if you have any books in common? It's nice to get a bookmark for one you love! (But it is also nice to get a new recommendation!)

message 31: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Angela, thanks for the suggestion!

message 32: by Amy (new)

Amy Usually when I pick a book, it's either one I'm currently reading (then as I read I can jot down interesting parts and put them on there) or it's a book I've read and really loved.

message 33: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments So, my "really cool idea" for my bookmark = TOTAL FAIL. It didn't work. Or, not nearly the way I'd need it to. Gonna do a little more experimenting, but I think it may be a lost cause.
frowny face.

message 34: by Amy (new)

Amy I finally found my pattern but haven't sat down to actually attempt it yet. I'm sure it'll be a night before mailing project, as it usually is. But that's also when I do my best work.

message 35: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I mailed my bookmark out today.

message 36: by Shae (new)

Shae | 57 comments Wow Paula you are awesome! I hope to finish mine tonight :)

message 37: by Amy (new)

Amy Wow, I haven't even started mine. Need to get on that. They go out on the tenth right?

message 38: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Ship on the 15th, open on the 22nd.

message 39: by Amy (new)

Amy Oh yay. Ship on the 15th is way better.

message 40: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Glad there's plenty of time on this...I'm still waiting for inspiration to strike! Paula, that's amazing...

message 41: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Well, I bought my bookmark. I'm working too many hours to make it. When I make a bookthong or a bookhook, I need my beading friend to help me. I have some really cool cross stitch patterns for bookmarks. Cross stitching takes me a while, though. Anyway, I send mine out early 'cause I worry about my person receiving her gift. I do enjoy everyone's excitment over making their bookmarks.

There's a lot to be said for a purchased bookmark, my homemade ones usually LOOK homemade!!

message 43: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) But the homemade ones are cute and usually very inventive! What I need to do is make some that represent the books I like when I have time, so I'd be ready for the swap.

message 44: by Amy (new)

Amy What I do is keep a running list of books I've really enjoyed so when the swap time comes I'm not rushing to think of a book. I also jot down ideas about what the bookmark might look like.

message 45: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Don't worry about that, Heather. Just pick a book you like and the bookmark will probably be great!

message 46: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Don't forget that tomorrow is the deadline to ship your bookmark! We will open them on the 22nd, which will be next Tuesday.

Please post pictures of your bookmark here once you open it!

message 47: by Jen (new)

Jen Just finished laminating mine and will ship today!

message 48: by Amy (new)

Amy Aackk!! I have to make mine tonight. I went as far as cutting out the pattern but that's it. I've been so swamped. Too many big things going on in one small time frame.

message 49: by Amy (new)

Amy Just finished mine and it will be in the mail tomorrow!

message 50: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments Mine was mailed today. :)
