Oops, sorry. I don't often play in this sandbox, didn't realize the next was up to me. I gladly pass the torch to you, John.
Sorry John. I've thought about yours off and on but haven't come up with a thing short of that Bad Brandon Fraser movie Blast from the Past (1999)... How bout a hint? In the mean time...
Poseidon's Son grew up in Manhattan
Well, this might very well give it away, Stephen, but I'll tell you that it's the same novel that you answered correctly to one of my clues in the "Opposites Attract ... Vocab Competition" thread. Is "Poseidon's Son grew up in Manhattan" a novel or film?
I'll have to look back at my answers... but in the mean time...Poseidon's Son grew up in Manhattan
Is both a film and a book. Though it's unclear in the film that it's Manhattan. For some reason that scene felt more like Queens.
I didn't know there was a professor in "The Road," Jan, but if there was, I suppose it would be right, even though that's not the one I had in mind. Let me know if you want me to tell you the one I was thinking about.

Then try to make your clue more specific, Jan. As specific as you can make it so it can only apply to the one book that you have in mind might be ideal.
The curious incident of the dog in the night time (or something like that)Prejudiced girl. Proud boy. First Impressions.

Could it be Pride and Prejudice? :)Let me go look at my bookshelves and see if I can make one up right now.

Here's one from the classics:
Woman gives up fortune for love.
I'm the WORST when it comes to classic Women in fiction but I'm guessing Madame BovaryMy favorite line about Madam Bovary comes from a once wealthy fictional lady of the stage and screen...
Mame Dennis: Flaubert spent 17 years on Madame Bovary!
Vera Charles: However did she stand it?
Assuming that I'm right I'll pose this one...
