Sharon (fiona64) Surviving an American Gulag is an outstanding GLBT historical fiction, taking place during the Viet Nam war.

Thanks Sharon. I've been searching this category. It's the genre I know the least about and wanted to find more books that weren't slanted towards erotica.

Edward C. Patterson is a great place to start. He has a nice series of mysteries. Some of the books have erotica, but most of them do not. He's an awesome guy; we became acquainted when he established Operation eBook Drop for deployed soldiers (we authors send books to them for free) and I picked up his books subsequently. He's also quite a good poet.
