Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14533 comments I'm having one of those days.

I'm a stay at home wife and hubby is semi-retired. We have a daughter. We find we often have to "schedule" our fun time during school hours. Poor hubby has been working quite a bit during the last few weeks and we are thankful for that. However, it cuts into that time and hubby (and, yes, me) haven't been getting our daily allowance. Today was our last day before Christmas vacation so we were ready. Phone rings... Yes, we should have ignored it. Well, we didn't. Daughter needs her cheerleading outfit so hubby volunteers to take it to her. Because he is going into town I asked him to stop by the Post Office (where he works) to get the mail he forgot to bring home. Well, he forgot my daughter bloomers so she can't wear the cheerleading outfit (wasted trip) and when he gets to the PO they want him to work. BTW, he took my car and I don't have keys to his truck. So I need some sympathy and then I'll feel better :(

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments Ah, Pammy (that's what I call my BFF, Pam, when she's feeling down) Ah, Pammy... I'm sorry about this. What a disappointment. Is it possible to send your daughter to a friends house for some play time (for her and for you and hubby) or family for an overnighter?

We'll just have to wait for the little darling to go to sleep. She rarely gets out of our sight. Maybe we're overprotective but I only know a couple of ppl I'd trust her with.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments I was always overprotective, too. I don't know if it was good or bad for the kids. Then I ended up home schooling, and tried harder to find ways for them to be out of the house and with other kids. I'm only speaking for myself here, but I think that always having my kids with us, never taking any real time for each other on a regular basis, really damaged our marriage. We were too young and too poor to have a honeymoon, both worked full time until our daughter was 4, then when I could stay home, she did everything with us. We should have take time - weekends away - to focus on each other. I don't know... maybe it wouldn't have mattered at all. My husband has issues with certain things... but I'll always wonder.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14533 comments We got our daughter when I was 39 and hubby was 41. We had lots of time prior for us. We try to keep her involved in things. Taekwondo for a while, soccer, dance, cheerleading, 4H, band, etc...

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments That's awesome! I wish I had gotten my kids more involved in sports and things. It wasn't until home schooling that I really tried to do that. For the rest of my life I'll wonder if taking them out of school was the right thing to do or not. :(

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14533 comments There are times I'm tempted to take my daughter out of school but she is so social it would not be good for her. She needs ppl around her. She rarely even leaves her dad and me alone here at home. Always has to be in the thick of things.
