Gigi | 85 comments I'm going to add each of Linda Howards books as group reads. My personal goal is to get through her entire library. However, please feel free to discuss when and if you'd like. Spoilers welcome. However, please just indicate that there are spoilers present.

Shonna (sclaude) | 21 comments Loved the series, this one was probably my 3rd favorite, the herione was very different but I liked her and I loved Joe from the first book.

Michelle Finished this in a day...lol. It was a good read and Joe is just such a wonder. Love smart heroines, could have done w/o the virgin angle, but it was necessary for the love story. Not my favorite LH, but I did love the characters!

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments Although I love all the Macs..this was my least favorite..I expected big things from Joe as I fell for him in his dads book, but alas..he was a harder character than the rest..

Yes, and then he seemed so cold and remote in his book. I felt like he was an entirely different person. We did find out about why he held himself back due to the horror that happened to him in foster care, but he just wasn't the same person I met and loved in Mac's Mountain.

message 9: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments yeah but he'd suffered this before his dad met Mary..he just seemed so "not" the loving boy we met in MM...I was gutted, expected and wanted to go on loving him..but..he was a stranger!

Juls (juls1980) I just wanted to add my 2 cents. i thought joe was a great guy, at least considering all thats happened to him in the past. Even though he was a hard ass he was still very thoughtful of Caroline. he was very observant of her and her lack of dating skills so he claimed her as his. he might have been over barring and caveman like but in the end he was only trying to watch out for her.

I felt the same, in fact I named the tendency of really interesting male characters to become the exact same kind of alpha hero as always when they get their own books, "Linda Howard Syndrome." :-\

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments Elayne,
You are the first person Ive ever seen post anything about Chance.I really liked him and the book, don`t know why it isn`t more popular.
I had the same problem with Joe being so neat in his book and then changing so much.
