To quote my son, oh man! that's so hard...let's see...Best Holocaust Book:
"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak -- This was excellent. I had a hard time getting into the first couple chapters, but after that I was hooked. I read a few Holocaust books this year, and this one was the best written.
Best Historical Fiction:
"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen -- Loved this book. I really enjoyed the insight into traveling circuses, I'd never read anything about them before.
Best YA:
"Mockingjay" by Suzanne Collins -- Isn't it obvious? LOL
Best drama:
"Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger -- The plotline factor was so impressive. I cannot imagine how she kept it straight while she was writing.
Best Non-Fiction:
"My Life in France" by Julia Child -- I don't read a lot of memoirs, but I loved this. Julia Child was a very cool woman, and I didn't know anything about her before this book.

Tell us the top five books you've read this year and why they earn such a high recommendation from you. And I'd just like to apologize to Lesley in advance: Mine are certain to contain characters with fangs. :)
