Gigi | 85 comments I'm going to add each of Linda Howards books as group reads. My personal goal is to get through her entire library. I've read this book. Definitely a must-read! However, please feel free to discuss when and if you'd like. Spoilers welcome. However, please just indicate that there are spoilers present.

Gigi | 85 comments LOL! Its definitely worth reading. Let me know when you're ready to read it. I may re-read, not sure....the tear-jerker part may be a one time only thing for me.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) This one is at least a 5 hankie tear-jerker. (on a scale of 1-5 hankies)

Shonna (sclaude) | 21 comments I put off reading this book for a long time because every review talked about it being a tear-jerker, and I usually don't like to cry, I broke down and read it and was so glad I did, excellent book have re-read a couple of times.

Michelle OMG....this book is sooooo damn good. Yes, there is heartbreak, but there is also a sweeping romance for the ages...true love is ALL it's forms and, of course, the trademark LH HEA!!! All the initial tragedy is worth it just to get to the satisfying build of the rest of the story. These characters are larger than life and they will stay with you through time. A MUST!!!!!

Janet (janetlilith) | 102 comments For me, CNM has one of the best love "scenes" I've ever read. After Milla meets with her son's adoptive parents and then she goes off on Diaz in the car. When he takes her to that cabin and then just quietly goes about taking care of her and lets her heal at her own pace, was so moving and powerful for me. In it's quiet simplicity, it said so much. I especially liked when she sat bewildered in front of her cosmetics, and he gently guided her to them in the correct order that he knew she used them.
This book often brought me to tears, and is definitely in my top five favorites of LH's.

Alexis-Morgan Roark (alexismroark) | 11 comments I just can't do it. I think it's the whole first husband thing. I want them to be together, you know? I KNOW Diaz is good for her, but I'm still hung up on what could have been. Also, as a parent, I'm not sure I WANT to read this book. [Shudder] Help!!

message 13: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments I felt that way about the first husband thing when I was reading this book..but after the initial disappointment you realise it had to be..the trauma changed her..Diaz is the ONLY one for her new self.

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments Yes her husband moves on with his life a lot sooner than she does..and has more family..I think I felt more disappointed in HIM than I ever did in her..at least she didn't give up!

Again I agree with you....it was diappointing to find that her ex went on with his life and it did not matter that he was financially helping Milla so that she can continue with her quest to finding out what happened to thier baby. But in the end she came out ahead with DIAZ!!!

Oh word... I have a little boy, reading it was traumatic. But worth it.

NV (nelv) This was one of the most powerful books I have ever read. The story line is unfortunatly very realistic and Linda Howard does a wonderful job of showing how tragic events change people and relationships. It also shows that even people that are friends are not always as "friendly" as you would like!
I think I used a box of tissues on this one!!
Very powerful story from one of my all time favorite authors.

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments Soooo moving..I felt exhausted after this book and..oddly satisfied at the outcome. Definately up there with the best books ever!

message 21: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 11 comments An LH classic in my opinion. I was tentative about reading this book because of the storyline but it all worked out for the best -- of course, LH wrote the HEA! Definitely a tear-jerker and an emotional roller-coaster ride but all the parts worked out in making this a wonderful book.

Oddly satisfied is a good way to describe it. I would have been really upset if it had gone the more obvious way, yet that was what I was expecting, so it was quite thrilling when it didn't happen.

Elayne (elaynet) | 114 comments It was so heartbreaking reading this book...how awful it must be for people who actually go through this!
