The Bible
Yes, as you said it's been altered through out the years. Bits added in and bits taken out. That's really wrong and it changes the whole meaning.
In Quran it has been said that all Boks before it have been altered through time by greedy idiots who wanted credit. But the Quran has stayed unchanged since God promised to safe-guard it. It's what all Muslims beleive. However, a lot of the Bible is still original, only we don't know what.
I donno what your saying. There were four books though. The Taurat, the injeel, and Quran and one more. the name of it slipped from my mind.
Well, we all know that after Jesus died there were a billion-gazillion different kinds of Christianity. There were 3 main groups though: The Ebionites, the Markionits(?) and the Gnostics. For some hundred years they fought about whose kind of Christianity was the true one, which group had understood Christs teachings right. The leaders of the country could see that they were on the verge of disaster with all these nutcracks fighting over whose religion was more stupid than the others (sorry). So anyway, this bishop dude, Athanasius, decided to gather the ones he liked the most in a book and make that the "true" teaching for everybody. Of course, a lot of the scripths didn't make it. This book however, is today known as The Bible.Examples: The Thomas evangelium. It contains no descriptions of Jesus, but 114 quotes that he has said. 79 of these match what is already in the Bible, but the rest are uniq. It was too cryptic to make the Bible though, and was cut out.
The story of Theklas. She was this strong, independant woman who went trough a bunch of shit, but got out alive because God helped her. She was also the reason that a lot of Christian women back then got independant. Was removed because the old male assholes didn't want independant women who were capable of taking care of themselves.
I have more, and I'll surely give them up if some of you would like.
Anyway, my point is that the Bible isn't trustworthy. At all.
Oh Emma, I heard about those too! There was also one that portrayed Judas as kind of a hero. Like, Jesus actually asked the poor dude to betray him so that he could save humanity. The Judas evangelism or something, right?
Make a topic? I figured you might be better at any qur'an reltaed stuff, since I'm still in the first chapter. Im a busy person, and it's a heavy book. It's gonna take a while to read it all.
Erm, actually it'd be better if I don't. I mean, people will say things that.. I'll mind so I'd rather not talk abt it unless sum1 wants to knw sumthing about the Quran, then they can ask me in the 'muslims' :D
Excuse me. She asked me if I wanted to make one, and I don't. You are more than welcome to start it yourself, or whoever wants to.
Nah, I mean that people might say stuff like it's been changed wich I won't like. So I'd rather avoid debating on something like that :)
Why are you afraid that people will say stuff about it? I mean, then you'll know what they think. Surely you are confident enough in your religion not to be affected by what other people think.
Also Amina, people your whole life are going to disagree with you and say stuff you won't like so in my opinion, you might as well get used to it and start learning to deal with it.
Oh, Emma has said to me that she thinks all the Holy Books have been changed... people have said, I mean. But like, I don't think theirs any use of making a section for Quran since I already know what most people think. And if anyone wants to make one, I'm not stopping them. And Anna, it's not about me "chnaging" myself because of what people say, it's about me getting offended. And why should I creat bad-feelings when there's no reason to?
But I don't understand how you could be offended. If you are secure in you believe, surely it wont matter what other people think. As long as you know in your heart that yours is the truth, you can laugh at anyone else claims, right? I know I do.
Sure, but like if someone (especially your friend) tells you your following the wrong thing then it causes bad feelings. I wouldn't exactly love someone who said "you know the Book you beelive in is written by humans"? That's just... I mean, why tell me?

Might learn something. Life is all about learning and not being static. "Change is a Constant." from Finding the Lost UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES.Finding The Lost UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES
Amina wrote: "Sure, but like if someone (especially your friend) tells you your following the wrong thing then it causes bad feelings. I wouldn't exactly love someone who said "you know the Book you beelive in i..."Like I said Amina, people are going to say stuff you don't want to hear but the point is being able to deal with it and just tell them your opinion back. If you are confident it shouldn't really affect your feelings at all.
Chill people. It's just if we wanted to discuss the Qur'an or the Hebrew. And don't take it that way Amina. I just thought you might want to be the one to make a subject about it, because you know more about it. I can def. make a subject about the Qur'an, but it will be from my knowledge and seen from my point of view.
(especially your friend)Who are you talking about here?
Sure, but like if someone tells you your following the wrong thing then it causes bad feelings. I wouldn't exactly love someone who said "you know the Book you beelive in is written by humans"? That's just... I mean, why tell me?
Look Amina, it's fine. I just don't get why it bothers you so much. I don't get why saying "Jesus fucking Christ" bothers Christians either, for that matter.
It won't bother me... as I said, I don't actually view someone as my good friend when they start saying stuff about my relegion. And I meant, well, Emma for one. And other people on here..
So Emma is no longer your friend because she believes the qur'an has been changed and/or is no the word of God?
No, I said, I don't want bad feelings to be created between me and my friends... and that happens when you debate. And right now, I don't think theres any reason for us to debate whether the Quran is true or not since we already have... so why should I start it all again?
Well because people on here, including myself and Emma, are currently reading the Qur'an. And so we might want to discuss/debate/ask questions/state opinions as we go along. Of course, me or Emma might as well create such a topic. But as she said: Then it'll be from our knowledge and view.
I think the Quran is true in Amina's eyes. And that's fine, and I think that the constant questioning of that is kind of ridiculous.
No one is questioning it. I am merely pointing out that not everyone believes as she do, which is what I do when people make a claim I disagree with.
But I don't think she is trying to make anyone believe what they don't want to. She is just defending her beliefs.
@Juliet: And I wasn't questioning it or saying that she's wrong. I just pointed out that not everyone believes at she does. At which she asked me why I kept going on about it. Which is how this whole discussion started. Until we moved back to talking about a topic for the qur'an. At which I said that it'd be nice to have somewhere to discuss the stuff I and others read when we read the qur'an. At which you called me ridiculous.
Thank-you Juliet, that's exactly what I'm doing. And yeah, Anna. You can create a topic... and I'll defend the Quran if I think you're saying something wrong... therwise I'll stay put :)
I didn't call you specifically ridiculous. I call this whole ganging up on Amina thing ridiculous. Which I do too. I just think that her religion matters a hella of a lot to her. She doesn't want to make a topic for the Quran and I don't think she has to debate about why she doesn't.
I never accused you relegion... or anything. You've been persistently asking me "why why why" I don't wanna make a discussion. I said frum the begging, if u wanna, make it. stop asking me.
Goodness you people. I have not tried to force anyone to do anything. I am trying to understand why it matters so much what others think, and that's that.
I think that whether or not we like to believe it. What others think of us matter. I just don't think that Amina likes debating her religion all that much.
I don't like debating when I know the person won't EVER beleive me no matter what. It's just.. like theirs no point then
What? I didn't ask you to convince of your religion. I was trying to understand why it matters what others think. It has nothing to do with believing or not believing. Of course I'm not asking you to try and convince me of your religion, that would be an outright stupid thing to ask, since it's very unlikely that it would make a difference.

Most Christians believe it to be Gods word, handed down trough generations from man to man. It tells how the earth was created, how Jesus was born and how he died. It explains the whys and the hows of Christianity.
Personally, I don't believe half the shit that book says. Magic sticks and talking snakes? Oh please, give me a break. I don't believe that God is the jerk the Bible makes him look like. That he should be feared, and that he will send people to Hell if they don't believe in him is just a load of crap. I do not believe that it's about praying to God. I believe it's about being the best you can be, and if you do that the doors of heaven will be open.
Of course, the Bible has been altered many times, as we know from history. not to mention all that is lost in the translations.
What do you think? Is it Gods word? Is it a load of crap?
