Jennifer (adorkablebookworm) I have a question for y'all... I am writing a fantasy, Sci-fi, paranormal book. It gets pretty dark in places... I'm wondering what you guys do and don't like to read about with those subjects, like; zombies, vampires, faeries, pixies, etc.?

In the book that I am writing I am incorporating the "monsters" into a world of a young women who doesn't fit in. She will embark on an adventure where she will find out who she is and who the "monsters" are.

I would really like to know how other readers feel about the things I mentioned above.

Carly (cloud-envy) I'll give some feedback here..
Zombies = totally badass. They're amazing. Like, compleately amazing.
Faeries are just as awesome.
Personally, I think vampires are way over done. Far more than they should be. Maybe avoid them? There are so many books with vampires, they're hard to write without looking unoriginal.

Jennifer (adorkablebookworm) I am writing a book about all the "monsters" if you will. I agree vampires are way over done, but adding them is just for the effect. No main characters are vamps. I just wanted to know what readers thought when it comes to zombies, witches, faeries, vamps, etc.?
.. I know when I think of a zombie I think of a rotting corspe that smells foul. My hsband automatically thinks of a green man that walks with his arms out and says; as my husband says, "I vant to eat your brains." I don't want readers to have that thought. :)

Carly (cloud-envy) I suggest reading 'the zombie survival guide' for reasearch on zombies
It takes a different look on them, being zombified is a disease according to that book, and allows insightful ways of showing how the author believes they act after research.
Vampires as a whole are just used so much, I could only suspect ^_^

Michelle Collins (chelle_1975) | 1 comments Hi everyone, I am doing a research project for a YA Novels class I am taking. My project is 'The Evolution of the Witch' I am looking for texts prior to 1960, preferably old witch stories. I want to compare the modern day portrayal of witches in literature verses the modern day witches. Can anyone point me in the right direction or make book suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chelle
