Hey everyone, I am new to the group and I would love to jump in starting a title in August. Do you usually vote on suggestions?Trisha
We do. Is there any specific book you'd like to suggest? Things look like they're wide open in terms of books.
Two books on my list of things to read soon are Candide by Voltaire and Utopia by Thomas More. But if no one's game for those, I'll read just about anything. Someone mentioned Kafka a while ago. Very interested in that too.
Sounds good, Duckthief. I agree that a discussion leader would help us along a bit, Clare. I feel like I've read Metamorphosis a couple times... might be able to pick it up again, but would prefer some of his other work.
Alright so it looks like the decision is between
Utopia - Thomas More
Metamorphosis - Franz Kafka
Candide - Voltaire
Let's leave voting open until Wednesday August 6 10pm PST.
My vote is for Candide.

My vote is for Candide.
It looks like Kafka is it. If everyone could pick up a copy by Monday August 11 then we can start discussing the book.

I'm still plugging away at Ovid but I also want to work on something new. I want to have a dialogue on here about classics and it looks like that isn't going to happen with Ovid so maybe we should move on.
