What do you think?

Personaly, i think every living thing does. ((Except maybe plants...but idk on that one...)) I think everything that has a personality or opinion does. Everything that thinks and lives. I think that your soul is just a spirit as your body is just a host.

If you disagree and think we do not have souls, give me one good reason.

Annemarie Carlson (annielawlz) | 470 comments Yeah, sure. We do.

message 3: by Anna (new)

Anna Banana | 156 comments Kinda, yeah. I suppose. I dunno. It's i funny little thing, but I'd like to believe that we have one.

Also, I believe I heard recently that scientists have discovered some electric current that run trough our body, and they don't know what it is. So... maybe?

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe...but don't rest your faith in the hands of scientists... ((Mind you i'm not saying they're wrong...))

Why not? People rest their faith in the hands of scientists every day, and that seems to work out pretty well for most.

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Scientists are people like us. They can't aaalways be right.

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) But that wasn't what I said. I said: "People rest their faith in the hands of scientists every day, and that seems to work out pretty well for most"

And they do, and it does. You see it on hospitals every day, though I don't know how much of you life you've spend on a hospital.

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Oh me? Not too long lol. I mean I've been sick for a while and broken a few bones but that's all :P you?

message 9: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Well, I've had cancer, so I've spend a pretty long time on the hospital. But that's not realy the point. I've seen science do the most amazing things for people. Science saves lives every day. Maybe God has something to do with it too, maybe he dosen't. But putting ones life in the hands of scientists isn't all that bad of an idea.

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Ooh yeah, but that doesn't mean they're always gonna be right,

Oohhhh you've had cancer? And you got it cured or something?!

message 11: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Ooh yeah, but that doesn't mean they're always gonna be right,

When did I say they're always right? I've only said that putting faith in science isn't such a bad idea, as they certainly proof every day that they're worthy of being put faith in.

Oohhhh you've had cancer? And you got it cured or something?!

Yeah. They were pretty sure I was gonna die though, but I pulled trough :) Partly thanks to science.

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments I know you didn't say that.

Awesome :) so how did you feel?

message 13: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) I feel normal :) It's quiet nice and so not appreciated enough by people in general.

message 14: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Oh my Emma. You never told me that! Wow. I'm so.. sorry..

message 15: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Whatever makes it, I know I beleive we have a soul. It's in my relegion. The body is just a ... like a host for the soul, which without it would be dead and lifeless

message 16: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Oh my Emma. You never told me that! Wow. I'm so.. sorry..

It never came up. And you don't have to be :) I didn't die, so it's all good.

message 17: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) yeah, you're lucky in that. I'm glad you recovered. :D

message 18: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Yup, I am too :) Thank God for science!

message 19: by Joyzi (new)

Joyzi (joit) | 26 comments I don't know. Do we?

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Science is so hard

message 21: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Of course, i'm sure there's a description for a soul in the Quran but I can't recall anything. Whatever it is, obviously I'll beleive that. If I come across it, I'll mention it.

Yes, Emma. lol. Thanks GOD for science

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Hahah lol! People who don't believe in him shouldn't thank him. Lol! Wait Im not sure who's athiest around here...

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Yeah lol chemistry is interesting... But there's too much of it! And then there's physics all the energy stuff I got really bad grades in lol but I think biology is OK

message 24: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) People who don't believe in him shouldn't thank him.

People who don't believe in him can do whatever the heck they want to. However, it does so happen that I do believe in God, so I am perfectly capable of thanking him for anything I want to thank him for.

Thanks GOD for science

I know. That's why I used that phrase. It's funnt and pretty much sums up what I believe.

message 26: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Yeah, Em. It is kind of.. funny. Like.. I donno, it sounds funny. lol

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Exactly. Thank GOD for SCIENCE. Two things that are usually seperate in many ways :)

message 29: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Nah... in the olden times, islam and science went side by side. It still does.. kind of. But people come up with the most outrageous (for my faith) theories that we have had to split apart.

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) | 529 comments Yeah like the pork thing...

Why not? People rest their faith in the hands..."

Because, does science say there is a God? No, it's in faith.

Lindsay wrote: "In order to answer this question, we must first ask ourselves, "What is a soul"? Define a soul. What physical properties encompass it? And how does it coincide with our anatomy? What makes a soul?"

I think a soul has nothing to do with your anatomy...

message 33: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Here are some definitions of faith for ya':

# religion: a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny; "he lost his faith but not his morality"
# complete confidence in a person or plan etc; "he cherished the faith of a good woman"; "the doctor-patient relationship is based on trust"
# religion: an institution to express belief in a divine power; "he was raised in the Baptist religion"; "a member of his own faith contradicted him"
# loyalty or allegiance to a cause or a person; "keep the faith"; "they broke faith with their investors"

So you can rest your faith in another person.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

True...but I meant relegious faith....

It started as this, I disagreed, I believe a soul is so much more than that.

That's what I believe. So there you have it.

message 35: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) True...but I meant relegious faith....

"but don't rest your faith in the hands of scientists... "

Resting ones faith in the hands of someon sounds very much like having faith in that person, which is a perfectly normal and non-religious thing to do. But religious faith? No, I would never rest that kind of faith in scientists, since no such thing is needed. We know scientists exists, so I don't need to have the same kind of faith in them as one would have in God.

Lindsay wrote: "Nemonica, what gives you reason to believe this? If there is absolutely no reason to believe it and no evidence to suggest it, what compels you believe in it despite everything? Because if you're..."

You're right, I have no proof. I'm not good at debating and I know that...

This isn't a discussion, this is a debate. I'm stating what I believe without fact and this is no place for that.

message 37: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments i think this question depends on what you consider a soul to be.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd like to believe we have a soul because on The Day of Judgement don't you get accounted for based on sins and good deeds? That would mean that you have a soul of some kind to see what kind of person you are I guess. And I agree it kind depends on what you consider a soul to be. I've never thought about. Sorry,I'm just pondering the question. :)

message 39: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments do you think animals have souls? i'm not completely sure what i think about this...

message 40: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) sure they do. Every living thing has a sole... well, except plants... I donno about plants, actually. Not sure about that

message 41: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments even worms? what do you think a soul IS anyway??

message 42: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) Yep, even worms. Because worm die too. And I donno much about a soul... the idea I have isnt describ-able

message 43: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments so if you die you have a soul??

message 44: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) nope, your soul leaves... that's dying

message 45: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments i think death is just when your body breaks down, and it's impossible to keep your heart pumping or lungs breathing. then, if you HAVE a soul, it leaves.

message 46: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) For me, and other muslims, you die when your soul is taken out by the angel of death

message 47: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 850 comments but then why does that happen only when the body suffers damage? do you believe that is just a coincidence?

message 48: by Amina (new)

Amina (journalistam) People die just like that too, actually...

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with,Amina. Every living thing has a soul. I don't know about plants but if they well that would be awesome.

message 50: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) Ugh. Plants having souls would suck. Imagine if plants had feelings and feel pain like animals and humans do. We'd have a bunch of Vegetablearians - people who didn't want to eat veggies. Or meat. Ergo, they would starve themselves. Great.
