Whether you consider yourself to be one of Paul's "Fiendlings" or are just a fan of some seriously messed up writing you are welcome to join in here.
Paul is one of my closest and dearest friends and I wanted to find a way to help talk about his books. However, in addition to that, I enjoy his work immensely and wanted a place to be able to talk about his characters, works, and twisted imaginings with others of a like mind.
Before I started reading Paul's works I did not consider myself to be a fan of "horror". That's because I had come to associate the word horror with the blood and guts crap masquerading as such in popular movies. Why they are popular, I haven't a clue. I initially wanted to call Paul's work "thrillers" of one sort or another. And, they are thrilling. But they are also "horror" in the truest sense of the word. They are scary. Not because there is guts and gore everywhere, but because of the characters, the situations, the unseen...
I love that he leaves a lot of the frightful stuff up to me and my imagination. I also love his characters. They are far from perfect and very real. I like that these characters move from one work to the next, their lives weave around each other in much the same way that our lives connect and reconnect with those around us. They each have their own history but find themselves interconnected with his other characters making for some wonderful storytelling in a rich Cooleyverse.
So, pull up a chair, open your laptop or kindle or the latest copy of a Paul Cooley story, and share your thoughts or ask a question. Glad you are here, make yourself at home.
