I managed to read 80 last year (the most I've read since my kids were born), reading much more than that is pushing it, but I'd love to keep the same pace. So here I am!

I'm currently reading Sins of the Seventh Sister. I hope to get it, and The Women done before the end of the month . . .
A bit ornate, and you have to work really hard through much of the novel to track characters and story because he provides little to no back-story or exposition. But the concept - Gods as machines with a sort of reverse Matrix thing happening - was interesting, if a bit thin at times. It also leans towards horror, there were some really graphic scenes (for me), but the book wasn't infused with them and I wasn't sorry I read the book. Eventually I had a handle on the larger context and the main characters and it flew from there.
Miram, what did you think of The Slap? I have that one hear on my TBR (it's an ARC that a friend passed to me unread).
Oh dear. I forgot about this thread. I'm on book 50 something, so a bit late to update. My apologies.Christy, I liked The Slap a lot, but I suspect it is not everyone's cup of tea.
Miriam, I just finished 53 so don't know if I can make my goal but I will beat my 58 from last year (if I choose the right books.)
Yah, short books start to look really attractive at this time of the year. My speed has picked up again (helped by two very good books), so I might make 75.
