The Trojan War

Hi, guys!

So we've been thinking:


Instead of a quest for next summer, we can have the Trojan War (if you're not familiar with this, please Google or Wikipedia or take out The Iliad, by Homer). Or, you can read the short version of the story in one of the topics.

Bare Outline

For this event, we are going one step further in our demigods’ ancestry.

Chaos, the grandmother of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, and many others, is making a return.

Due to a grave error on the gods’ part (which they would never admit to, having a rather large sense of pride), the forces of darkness in the beginning of the world are making a comeback.

Chaos’ sole purpose is to bring disorder and mayhem, starting with her easiest targets: the demigods of Camp Half-Blood. This disturbance of harmony’s balance has happened once before in Greek history and has resulted in one of the bloodiest wars ever—the Trojan War.

Here are the final characters for the Trojan War. Remember to vote on the poll to determine whether all the characters that die remain dead once the war’s re-enactment is over (http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/42...). Also, please remember to pick a side for each of your characters—those that don’t already have a set fate, of course. The choice is either Achaean or Trojan.

The Storyline

Summer starts off well enough. Old friends are re-united and times are happy and peaceful—until all the heroes pass out simultaneously. During this deep sleep, the prophets/seers all have the same dream.

A dark purple mist, the colour of an old bruise, fills their field of vision. A ringing voice that sounds like scratching metal and glass seems to come from the odd fog.

Mayhem, disorder, mistrust and death
Waits at the end of your futures like a fetid breath,
A story found now as an old bloody tale,
Starting and ending with hopeless betrayal.
Be warned, dear heroes, of what lies in store:
If the apple is ripe it may be rotten at the core.
And pray not to your godly mothers and fathers,
They will not help in this year’s sweet slaughter.

(You can add in as much Troy imagery as you like.)
The heroes wake up some time after in unfamiliar surroundings. If you chose your character to be on the Achaean side, they will all wake up in the same castle in different rooms as befitted their mentor’s (original Trojan War character if they had one) status and rank—i.e., the kings’ rooms will be more sumptuous than a mere soldier’s. The castle stands on a cliff overlooking the sea; it seems to be situated somewhere in modern Greece, then Sparta. Many ships lie at the ready at the docks. If your character is on the Trojan side, they will wake up in a golden palace surrounded by walls that are thick and high on a vast plain by a mountain—Mount Ida. Both places are uninhabited by anyone other than the heroes and animals. Chaos ensues as the heroes find each other (on their own respective sides) but wonder where their other friends are. No one has any idea what is happening.
Chaos has transported them to an alternate universe that is ultimately uninhabited, solely for acting out the Trojan War. Think Jigsaw in Saw and his murder victims, only this time they’re in a completely different world, without any godly parents to help them—this means no IMing. Chaos has taken root in Vonne, a daughter of Eris, who finds herself on the Trojan side at first. Being partially possessed by the spirit of Chaos, she is transported to the Achaean side, where she plants a lie. She tells the people she finds there that the Trojan side has an apple—a golden apple, and if it is taken by force than they will be saved from an untimely death. She also gives Alex a map, telling them how to get to Troy; she then disappears.
She finds herself back in the Trojan side with no recollection of her encounter with the Achaeans save for some faces—she remembers Airlia, for one. Under Chaos’ influence, she then tells her fellow heroes about her dream, saying that ‘the most beautiful girl in the world was there’, much to Deon’s relief. Vonne warns the Trojans that something terrible will happen if they all voyage to Greece and take anybody back with them, insisting that in order to save themselves, they cannot contact Greece; nevertheless, Deon is raring to go to Airlia and persuades a fellow Trojan to go.
Meanwhile, Alex has fallen madly in love with Airlia to the point of it being unhealthy. Airlia does nothing to encourage these advances, being miserable and worrying herself sick about Deon. When Deon arrives (and talks with the Achaeans, who mistrust the Trojans because of Vonne deeply) her hope is restored and she resolves to go back, but she doesn’t want to hurt Alex’s feelings so she leaves in the dead of the night with Deon.
Spitefully, Alex, realizing what Airlia has done, convinces the Achaeans to attack Troy the following day to regain the golden apple, to which all readily approve… and the war commences.

**Note: Just because your character was not mentioned in the story does not mean under ANY circumstances that they will not play a big part. This is just to explain any confusing points as to why the war starts.

Please list the side your characters will be on like so, paying attention to the sides of the other characters as well.
(ex., If Chloe and Jacob are very close together and Chloe is on the Trojan you might want to make them on the same side. Or not. You decide.)
