I have a question... Is the Reader Store the only place I can find books to download for it? I just got one for Christmas and am still trying to figure things out. I would like to read more of James Herbert's books, and there are zero titles there. If so, how do I go about it, and can you suggest sites? I am in Canada, so that might be a factor too. Thanks for any input!

No, you can buy ebooks everywhere you can buy them. Some don't let you download if you're from the wrong country. I'm from Germany and can't buy in the shop. I download the books from the ebook sites to my computer and via the Library to my Reader.
Is this your Frank Herbert http://www.borders.com.au/search/Jame...
or is this a different one?
I have a list of ebook shops but I don't know if FH has books there. There are a lot of shops. Though Google didn't help me much right now.
Some more:

Maybe another knows more.
I've got the list via a Yahoo Group and added some more:

And if your Frank Herbert is the one that wrote Dune, check Diesel Ebooks - they have some. But only for US :(
you can go to MobileRead.com and you can download free books there. There are some other sites I can't remember right now that has free books, mostly classics, but if you like them you can get them free. I don't know about what countries they accept and don't. I live in the US, so so far I haven't had any problems.
http://astatalk.com/board/The above is a great site for downloading books FREE. I live in Costa Rica so it works out great for me.
I found this at MobileRead.com, and the others from other sites so maybe this will be of some help. I don't know if they work in other countries besides the US though. I was checking the links as I added them, so they should all work.http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Free_...

http://www.ebooks.com/
http://www.the-ebook-reader.com/ebook... (I found this one yesterday)
http://books.google.com/ebooks
http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/
http://www.epubbooks.com/buy-epub-books
some of these may have similar sites, I was just taking from my favorites list and I occasionally doubled up some sites.
hope this helps some.

oh, some are free and some are stores where you can buy them. Borders also has a free ebook section, but it can be a looooonnnnnngggggg search. As I was checking the site out, many (at least of the first 15 pages) were in foreign (to me, not English) languages.
my question is are there any free ebooks available to the sony reader? seems other ereaders offer some. does sony?
You can read all free ebooks with the righ format on your Sony reader - and if you're from USA or Canada, you can use the http://ebookstore.sony.com/*quote*
Question: Is the Reader Store available outside the United States?
Answer: The Reader Store is currently available in the United States and Canada only.
If you reside in the United Kingdom, please visit Sony-UK for more info on availability in your area
/end quote.
Not sure if the books are secure ebooks or normal ones.
So Sony offers them too but only for certain countries.

And there are other sites that offer free books. Google has a free book section. Did a quick glance at it, LOTS of books but the first few pages were mainly textbook type (electicity) or in other languages.
Almost every book site has some free books. Check them out before you buy any, MobileRead had all of Sherlock Holmes books free, so that saved me from buying any. Plus lots of classics.
