SDMB - Straight Dope discussion

Anything going on here? Any reason to keep this group going?

We seem to do most of our chatting on the SDMB, naturally, I suppose. Since the group is not linked by a particular book genre or theme, it's a little tough to think of topics that will be of general interest.

We could talk about our Christmas books, if you want. I got a Kindle - and a gift certificate for B&N, and one for Borders. :) I have quite a few paper books queued up, and I've only bought one Kindle book so far - Cutting for Stone, by Abraham Verghese, which was very good. I've used one of my gift certificates to order another of his books.

I like the Kindle just fine, except for a vague feeling of disappointment when I finished the book and had nothing physical to put on my shelf. Hope I'll get over that. I bought a case that opens vertically and folds back to prop up the Kindle for reading, since I do entirely too much reading at the dinner table.
