ok So i've started the book yeah ik i'm only on page like 210 but I have to say this book is killing me. At first I was like yes! this book is going to be sooooo cool! And it is, I guess but I hate some characters now. I hated Edward at first (and I'm a big Edward fan so u know when i start saying I hate him somethings wrong) and then after I saw how sad he was I hated Bella sooo much I really didn't care what happend to her. So right now I just wanted to get that off my chest, so this is a discussion were u can tell how much this book is driving u up the wall or if it is letting ur feet stay firmly planted to the ground.

lol ive finished it but as i was reading it i thought the same thing i considered stop reading it at some points lol
Yeah I was getting kinda crazy for a couple of chapters there (well actually all throughout Jacobs book to be honest) I was like WHAT?? I wasn't mad just nervous and surprised about the direction it had taken. But I have to say I think it ended up turning out great (leave it to Stephanie :) ) Why did you hate Edward??
In the middle I was really mad...but then it worked out and now I'm fine, I love the book. I got SO mad when the first book of Bella's perspective ended, leaving me all confused, and then it went on to Jacob's view. I was like, "What?? NOO!! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!!" But then I figured everything out later, and it was all good.
i actually didn't really breaking dawn that much. haha i think it's just me, but it wasn't what i imagined, which could be a good thing. in some ways i liked it, but some ways i just couldn't stand it haha. i thought it was a little awkward with the pregnancy and stuff. and i thought it was totally weird that bella was like sex crazy throughout the book. haha. the characters just didn't seem like themselves to me...
Yah I agree that they were I little different in this book but that is what I liked because it shows them growing up and taking responsibility for themselves.
I must voice that I too disliked this book. I didn't feel that it stayed true to form of Meyer's previous books. There were several holes left open (like Bella's mom). Are we supposed to believe that her mother was not going crazy having not heard from her daughter in MONTHS?! And I didn't particularly like the whole pregnancy story line. To really immerse yourself in the characters, the story lines, to read it as though you are in the middle of it...you have to overlook a lot of unlikely things...I mean it is a story based on Werewolves and Vampires. For me, bringing in Renesmee and her rapid growth, supernatural powers, and whole odd conception thing...it was just a little too much to believe...it really pulled me out of the story.
I'll admit too, I'm not a Jacob fan. I did not like the whole middle section of BD being all from Jacob's perspective. I felt it was really long and drawn out. Yes...I know EVERYONE will disagree with me on it...but that is MY OPINION.
The one thing I liked about the book was the maturity that Bella's character showed...I would have liked to have seen more of it. I would have been happy if the book would have only focused around Bella's first few years as a new Vampire.
Again, in my opinion...I would have been happy if the book would have ended after Charlie came to the house and saw them...made peace with everything. Maybe BD was rushed...not getting the full attention is really deserved...it is certainly my least favorite out of the series. But then again...I too know just as well as everyone else that Meyer can not please all of her fans - and this was likely the best attempt to do so. Edward and Bella fans got their happy ending...while Jacob fans got half the book and Renesmee.
Again...this is all in my own opinion...something we are each entitled to equally.
I hated Edward because he wanted to kill the baby. But then when I read Jacobs part I agreed with them. THEN when the story person changed again I was like oh ok I want the baby to live now. It all depended on the story teller. So now that I'm done reading the book, I love Edward again and dislike Jacob again.
Yeah, for a while, I hated Edward with a burning passion because he wanted to kill the baby. i liked jacob's part of the book a load because of the language stephenie used. i thought his part of the book was hysterical and the chapter titles were so funny. I definitely like jacob more now that I've walked a mile in his shoes.
I know! Bella's are difficult because they hardly give any insight. Just one word. Jacobs basically give you a one sentence summary of what's going to happen.
Ok, yeah I like Jacob more, but he's still not my FAVORITE character. And totally I loved the titles of the chapters in his story.
I am so Team Edward, as you can tell, lol. But, I have always liked Jacob as well, but I never thought of him becoming more to Bella than a friend. Which is what happened of course. I thought Jacob got way tooooo pushy in parts of New Moon, but that was going to happen since he and Bella almost got together. Then, in Eclipse he was way too much of an arrogant pain in the you-know-what. But, I still thing his character is great. Loved his attacks on Rosalie as well!!!!!!!!1
I really really hated Jacob at the end of Eclipse (actually the first one I read =P), so I was completely bias when I read the previous two. I just wouldn't let Jacob touch me, it was pure loathing for that arrogant, son of a...(ah the irony). But after reading Breaking Dawn I actually sympathized with him, and I started liking him a bit better. Then, recently, after so long, I read the first 3 books again...and I no longer had that burning passion to push Jacob off a cliff...I'm a little disappointed now...I was all set to get real mad when he lip-rapes Bella not once, but twice...but I didn't get mad. I just felt real sorry for him. Ah, how bothersome.
Hi everybody, I'm new. Nice to meet you :)Since this is the topic for BD and its lesser 'qualities', did you guys like the 'happily ever after'? Because I thought that was too much. Not even Disney stories are that cheesy. I'm all for the happy endings, especially with Edward (he's my favorite character), but really? That just killed the book for me. Well, that and the rushed anti-climax. I can't believe SM wrote 700 pages to just finish everything off on a whim.
And why does everybody say Bella was sex crazy? For all the endless descriptions we've had, the sex scenes ended with tastefully fading to black. I would have liked to see a more detailed sex scene, especially the first one. I was very curios what it would be like for both of them, since they are so different.
I agree Bleuciel about the sex thing. I know for some it might be crude but its actually a beautiful thing when you're in love and it would have been VERY interesting to know the different point of views. I really liked the book (mind you, it wasn't my favorite of the series) but I'm glad it ended with a happily ever after though I do agree that the scene with the Volturi was a bit anticlamatic. Oh well.
I didn't mind the happy ending, happy endings always give me lovely warm fuzzies inside. But yeah, the Volturi scene was a little anti-climatic...I was hoping for some big battle, but then lots and lots of Cullens and good vamps would die. =( And the Volturi numbers would've been barely touched. The guard are seasoned warriors, made solely to kill other vampires, and with human blood pulsing through their hard bodies. Even with a level playing field, the Cullens wouldn't have won. They would have all died except for Alice, Jasper, Renesmee and her Jacob. =o
I was o.k. with the happily ever after thing, but still it was too..sweet for me. I wanted to see some blood battles with the Volturi. I wanted Bella to show her powers more. Oh, and I hated Jacob even more when he liked Nessie. I was like what?!
Ok im sort of one of those "Bella's sex mad" people. I don't think the book was really explicit and it didn't bother me at all - i liked the romantic parts. However, i did find that in the last book she was constantly going on about it "I want you" all the time and talking about the rest of the familys love lifes. And i just think that considering there are people reading this who are like 12-13 maybe it had more of an older teen theme. I didn't think it needed to have anymore detail, with the details provided i thought it made it more sweet and romantic.
yeah, faith. i'm 12, but i read the WHOLE series when i was 11 except for the last little bit of BD. my friend (also 11) finished it before i did, but she didn't read the part when they got to isle esme until the 4 time she read it. i warned all of my friends that BAD stuff happens in BD, and we joke about it alot. it was a little strange and weird, but i could handle it, my mom read the books ahead of me and said that i would be ok, i've always been a bit more mature wit those kinds of things

Stephanie, Loves Vamps and Werewolves but Zombies scare me!!

I also think that its very important to note that all during their relationship Bella and Edward waited until they were married to have sex. I'm glad that Stephenie thought that was important...some of the other young adult vampire books that I have read did not wait...
I totally agree with Michelle on message 9, BD just left me hanging there, making me try to believe that that was it!!! I still love BD though.
