Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments This is a carry over from 2010. Ok, a continuance of 2010. The Cliff has been joined into Thecliff as I (and hopefully the world) get used to hearing the name Thecliff Chamber.

In completing 2010, I was reading the novel The Weatherman by Steve Thayer of Minnesota. I completed the novel on January 6, 2011 and have graded this work a 4star. I'm now reading The Leper by Steve Thayer.

I, myself, live 300 miles from Minnesota to the east. My one and only brother lives in southern Minnesota.

It's great to be here in 2011, thank you all.

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Finally opened the folder with my work in progress novel Insouciant Mind and with the sound of classical rock in the background performed two writing sessions of 500 words each. The work is currently in chapter 20 and the time period is 1986.

The novel The leper by Steve Thayer is another great work of fiction as I near the end of reading the book.

Andrea | 469 comments Great job! Keep it up :)

message 4: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Oh, what a writer is Steve Thayer. Just completed reading The Leper a work by research on the subject of Leprosy. The story line is great and have given this work another 4Star. I've opened the cover to another novel by Steve Thayer The Wheat Field .

No writing the past few days as I continue to organize for the year 2011. This of course means to finish off 2010 by re-organizing my hard drive as my computer slow down of old age keeps me at bay.

It's amazing how much clutter writers collect.

message 5: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments I completed the reading of The Wheat Field by Steve Thayer and gave it a 3star reading, a fast read. Will start reading another novel by Steve called Silent Snow a sequel to The Weatherman .

I fumble to open my work in progress as the last few days of January awaits us all. I do think much about my work in progress and every once in a while my thinking gets me to open my work in progress to add the result of a brain storm. This is good.

However, I must make an effort to dive into my work in progress and write, write, write...

message 6: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Into February reading Silent Snow by Steve Thayer and thinking about the latest plot added to my work in progress Insouciant Mind that I wrote on the 29 January 2011. Where's this going? What's this leading too?

message 7: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Silent Snow and the latest Poets and Writers magazine and began reading Wolf Pass by Steve Thayer and Writer's Digest magazine.

Writing? In my work in progress Insouciant Mind I've performed three writing sessions in the past five days and anyone can follow my updates at: http://thecliffchamber.com/novels.htm

message 8: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Wolf Pass by Steve Thayer and am motivated to add a past story with the present story in my work in progress Insouciant Mind that I believe will add spice to my story.

I'll read one final novel by Steve Thayer Saint Mudd before I switch my attention to a novel by Ken Follett, having read an interview in Writer's Digest.

message 9: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Today is a good day to write.

message 10: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Saint Mudd and a trip back to the library. I'll begin reading The First Deadly Sin by Lawrence Sanders that is presented in the third person POV in how I've been working with the latest work in progress Insouciant Mind.

I do not write every day and on the days I don't I do have my work in progress on my mind. I think about the plot, the storyline, the twist and turns of the story, the characterization, setting, dialogue, the continuity of all scenes.

Also reading issue of Writer's Digest that's a huge help for this writer.

message 11: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Fiddlesticks! I ended the month of February with a couple of writing sessions, however, to begin March has been a blank. It's time to wake up!

Lawrence Sanders. What can I say. This writer is so intense and complete, describing every little thing in his description.

Finished reading an issue of Writer's Digest and began to read an issue of The Writer.

message 12: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading The First Deadly Sin that took over three weeks to read. I now will start to read another novel by Lawrence Sanders The Third Deadly Sin.

I've conducted one writing session the past two weeks as all my writing is with Webpage Creations who sponsors fantasy sports leagues with a highlight weekly story written with graphics. There's one hockey, one basketball, and one Nascar. Now baseball is to begin and Webpage Creations will add another three leagues to the site.

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments We enter April and my works in progress are on hold. In the month of March, I performed one writing session with my work Insouciant Mind as the month was devoted to Webpage Creations. I continue to read my writing magazines, one long novel in March, and to keep my website updated.

My website: http://thecliffchamber.com has much to offer in the form of my writing, writer link page, sports, poker, a recovery site, and a video page. This all keeps this writer active each day.

message 14: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments I've performed 2 writing sessions the past couple of days on my work in progress Insouciant Mind and trying like hell to continue to be encouraged about writing.

Still reading a novel and Poets & Writers magazine as the temperature outside finally, yes, finally, starts to warm up (50? 60?)...

message 15: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Third Deadly Sin and picked up to start reading a novel by Steven Spruill Before I wake.

How about this? I've started to write long hand in a tablet a chapter for Insouciant Mind. The plans are to carry this tablet around on my walks and write long handed on park benches on beautiful days. I'm inspired!

message 16: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments As winter lingers in the U P Michigan and the south is hammered by tornadoes I finally finish Before I Wake a suspense novel as I linger to writing anything with the end of the month before me.

I've chosen to read a thick paperback by Tom Wolfe...

message 17: by Clifford (last edited May 01, 2011 10:42AM) (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Currently reading A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe, the thick pocket book version. It's the start of another new month and my mind tells me that it's time to get to work on the works in progress and stop being so selfish toward the world of sports and gambling. I also am 4-months behind in reading The Writer magazine.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being great, I rate the first 4-months of 2011 a 3 toward my yearly goals...OUCH!

message 18: by Clifford (last edited May 17, 2011 03:49PM) (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Thank God I'm living my life 1-day at a time. I've had two short hospital stays this month because of a cat scan of my circular system that has shown some blockage in my right groin area. Because of the location it looks that I'll be entering another stay in Milwaukee for some minor surgery.

I continue to be active in reading (mostly), my obligations to webpage creations on the Internet, and finally some free hand writing (yes, pen and paper).

message 19: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Today was a great day as I resumed writing on my work in progress Insouciant Mind nearing 51,000 words to date.

Cintinue to read each day nearing the end of the latest novel A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe.

message 20: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Finished reading the novel in paperback, 787 pages of Tom Wolfe A Man in Full and gave a 4star performance. Will now begin reading Playing for the Ashes a novel by Elizabeth George.

Did a 2nd draft on chapters 16 - 21 of my work in progress Insouciant Mind and the real reason this was done was the fact that I'm not writing everyday and so I need to be reminded of what this book is written up to date. I'll admit that I love this feature on writing a novel. Not only did I perform deleting useless words, I added new thoughts and the 2nd draft ended plus 100 words.

message 21: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Today, even so the outside temp reached 91 degrees, in the mood to write and performed 900 words to my work in progress Insouciant Mind.

Enjoying the reading of Playing for the Ashes by England author Elizabeth George. Up to date with the reading of 2 of 3 magazines on writing. The Writer I've fallen behind by four months and am debating to renew due next month.

message 22: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Playing for the Ashes and up to date with the readings of Writer's Digest . Reading Poets & Writers with the latest edition arriving in the mail.

Have performed 3 writing sessions this month on my work in progress Insouciant Mind with 2 of those sessions outdoors free hand with note book and pen.

One week ago from a dear friend I received a ten-speed bicycle and am once again pedaling myself for exercise and fresh air, ty.

message 23: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments The past few days have been productive on writing sessions. Not, only have I been taking bike rides with my tablet and pen, sitting at a park and writing with my work in progress Insouciant Mind , but in my office I began a second draft of completed earlier chapters, having completed chapters 1-3. This work in progress will be uploaded to authonomy.com for viewing and receiving constructive criticism.

Completed reading another issue of Poets & Writers thank you...

message 24: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed 2nd draft of chapters 1-6 of my work in progress Insouciant Mind that are now uploaded to authonomy.com for viewing under my author name Thecliff Chamber . I continue to petal bike to park with tablet and pen, my Poets & Writers magazine, and the reading of hard cover book Your First Novel by Rittenberg & Whitcomb as this has turned out to be a super summer in the country of the U P Michigan and Iron Mountain. What a blessing...

message 25: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments In the process of writing a novel, time spent on research is necessary to get all the facts right even so the story is fiction. My research for my novels include hit records (music), the correct year and decade of all songs mentioned throughout the novel. I've discovered nutsie.com that's been a God send for my research.

The heat of this summer has been inspirational.

message 26: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Since the beginning of July, I've been reading a book on plots and structures that's a real educator for this writer. Taken a break from writing.

message 27: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading the book on plots and structures and started another book on description. Continue to self-educate by reading.

On my works in progress, Sobriety Fight I've decided with chapter one to use the first part as a prologue for the novel that the name may switch to Sobriety First.

message 28: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments While reading a study book on description & setting by Ron Rozelle, found and retrieved at the library a novel to read called Underworld by Don Delillo that's to be well written with description and setting.

Continue to work on chapter 1 of work in progress Sobriety First.

message 29: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 469 comments Hi Clifford. I've been reading some of your updates, and I like how you've mentioned how your writing days go, rather than just list the word count. Great way to keep track of everything you're doing. I've been reading "I'm a English Major, Now What?" Very good book about all the different fields writers could get into. Take care!

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments September first and all is well. Completed another reading of the latest Poets & Writers magazine. Finding author Don DeLillo novel Underworld intriguing with the many characters and subjects of waste management and baseball.

As a friend of Bill W. it is Sobriety First.

message 33: by Clifford (last edited Sep 15, 2011 04:07PM) (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments If I let my computer dictate my moods, I'll never get any writing accomplished. Frustrations and mad, then I'm like a spoiled brat running to my couch to read.
Of course, if I should be writing a scene of frustrations and madness, I might accomplish something.

message 34: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Finished reading 400 of 827 pages to the Underworld and returned book to library. Began to read Double Homicide by the Kellermans.

Am I off on my priorities? My Fantasy articles take so much of my time and sports in general. My life is reading, writing, sports, and a friend of Bill W.

message 35: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments I do have a conscious. Even though I live my life 1-day at a time, in the back of my conscious is planning stages set for the future. Preparations are on the burner for November 1st, a goal set to finish the 1st draft on 3 works in progress.

More to come as I write my latest fantasy sports article.

message 36: by Clifford (last edited Oct 31, 2011 06:31AM) (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Preparations for the upcoming NaNoWriMo are looking good as I make Nov 1 a new starting point to get down to some serious writing again. I've been rewriting some work in progress on Sobriety First on and off for the past month. My reading has been constant with my subscriptions and finishing another fiction writing book on description & settings.

And my weekly fantasy articles for Webpage Creations http://thecliffchamber.com/webpage_cr... has been steady.

message 37: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments I joined twitter on the Internet and following many, many contacts with my Thecliff_C username. I had read in an article in one of the magazines to build on a platform by using both twitter and facebook contacts. I also joined Linkedin.com to build further on my platform for public contacts.

It's not like I'm laying around doing nothing, I'm feeling good and each day is progress in motion.

message 38: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Description & Setting from a series of books for write great fiction on the eve of NaNoWriMo 2011.

Plans are set to conclude 1st draft of Death by Denial work in progress.

message 39: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments In the 1st three days of November, have performed 4 writing sessions on Death by Denial chapter 10 for NaNoWriMo and because I've been sporadic with writing the work in progress for the past few years, I've performed another draft on chapters 6, 7, 8, & 9, changing ideas and grammar corrections.

message 40: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Death by Denial does have a meaning. You procrastinate much longer and you will never get anything done.

message 41: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments I may have only reached 6,484 words written in 16 days, however, I've completed another draft on the first ten chapters of Death by Denial and have uploaded same to authonomy.com for everyone's viewing and the hopes of receiving more constructive criticism, thank you.

message 42: by Clifford (new)

message 43: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments 2-days before Christmas and I began reading a novel by Lawrence Sanders The Sixth Commandnent as I near the end of another year to say once again (where did this year go?)

Up to date for 2011 I read 13 novels and several books on writing. My writing of works in progress has been sporadic, however, the consistency of my writing has been great toward the weekly stories on fantasy sport leagues for Webpage Creations. The deadlines have been met each week in 2011 and that's something that I can be proud of as I continue to perform this work into 2012.

Working on Death by Denial this month I've written over 4,000 words as I close on the end of charter 15.

message 44: by Clifford (last edited Jan 11, 2012 08:32AM) (new)

My reading's up to par with the reading of Poets & Writers, a novel The Sixth Commandment, and an English book on Dialogue.

message 45: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading The Sixth Commandment by Lawrence Sanders as I continue to be busy with article writing for Webpage Creations. Yesterday, inspired by brain storm while looking at my work in progress Death by Denial and performed a great writing session. The 1st of the new year!!

message 49: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments Completed reading Lawrence Sanders The Eighth Commandment and will take walk to library in search of next book to read. I'm reading the latest issue of Writer's Digest and have performed 3 writing sessions on chapter 17 Death by Denial.

Received information from Dorrance Publishing Company on self-publishing.

message 50: by Clifford (new)

Clifford Wollum (bingocliff) | 156 comments On entering March, the brainstorm overwhelmed me that my work in progress Death by Denial started to far into the story. With how this novel will end should relate to the beginning and so I backdropped 2 weeks earlier to start this novel. Working on a new chapter 1.

At library I picked up Empire Falls by Richard Russo to be my latest book to read. I've been reading the latest issue of Writer's Digest and a writing book by Bob Mayer The Novel Writer's Toolkit.
