i put 50 books, because i know witht the amount of things i already have planned for this year i wont beable to read more, possibly not even 50 lol.
I originally put 80 books, but then I realized that I read 80 in the first two semesters of 7th grade, so I changed it 150.
I'm going to put a goal, but I can't figure out what to make it.150 doesn't sound so ridiculous, Rae.
It's fine. I plan to read all of this in the summer of 2011 but I am going to babysit every day for 9 hours a day so i dont know if i will be able to do it!!! ill try. :)
Lol I purposefully set my goal low this year: 75 books (non-textbooks). Last year my goal was 100, and I was at 96 by Jan 31. So close!
I set my goal for 50 books.I wanted to set a higher goal but unfortunately reading is going to be a bit hard to juggle with study and writing this year.
Oh well...
I had to leave it at 45. Im going to try and stay focused on school and books are distracting lol. Plus im starting a new job so ill have less reading time :(

I don't want to stop reading and I don't want it to become a task, but school is priority this year.
I'm in the same boat as you guys, i need to focus on school because its my last year and i have important exams for the next 4-5 months :S.
I put mine at 150. That's about as much as I usually read.

Well, I was looking through some of my friends' goals and they are all like really low. some at like, 20. lolz
Yeah. I go to a three-week long sleepaway camp where I'm very busy. This year, I read at least 17 books while I was there, not to mention the rest of what I read over the summer.
nicee! I tend to read more over the summer....lolz. That sounds like a lot of fun. What do you do there?
Pretty much whatever you want. You take two main courses and two/three mini courses(the number changed), plus daily activities, but the options are REALLY varied. You can do mock trial, take French, make abstract sculptures with CDs and marshmallows, or play soccer. You get to choose whether you want it to be "serious" or not, but even those "serious" classes are fun.

Also the boarding is co-ed (for high school students) . I would go but it isn't worth 4,850 dollars to me for just two weeks when there are better opportunites elsewhere.
Emily wrote: "I'm aiming for 150 books. Off to the library I go...."150 is quite a challenge. I aimed for that last year but ended up short like 20 books.
I only put 80 as my goal. Ordinarily I would put something much higher, but I have SO MUCH school work this year, and usually a lot of my reading is during the summer, but I will be spending 4 weeks speaking nothing but French (which I don't know yet) so I won't be getting much reading in then.I wish you luck on your 150.
Wow, 4 weeks of only speaking a language you haven't learned yet? That's gonna be difficult, but I know you can do it.
Thanks. It's really intimidating. They have a beginner level, which means that there will be certain times at the beginning where I can speak English, and I'll probably be dealing with people who are just as confused as I am.Plus, since I can't read any English books, my mom got me the first three Harry Potters in French.
No, I actually chose to do it. (yes you can laugh at me) I've always wanted to learn French, but I've waited long enough that if I were to start learning now, I really wouldn't learn much in high school, and I wouldn't be able to really learn anything over the summer if the format were any different either. Immersion is supposed to be the best way to learn, because you're forced to learn a lot quicker than you would in a classroom just to survive. But because a lot of the learning is through immersion, there are a lot of things that are completely uneducational...except for the fact that they're in French.
wow! I've been wanting to learn Japanese for a while now! i only know a bit,but probably not enough to have a conversation with! good luck with your French! :D
No laughing here- I'm impressed! You just won't be learning like in a classroom with all the verbs and strict sets of words each chapter....

And I figure summer will be my catch up time..unless I can finish my Virtual school course early and in that case I will be reading for an hour and a half a day.
Yeah, that's the goal Rae. Hopefully I'll come out of it having learned a lot without having studied much at all.
Good luck with french! I dropped it last year, but I wouldn't mind picking it up again sometime...Just not with my evil teacher and all those strict text books etc...
Let us know how it goes :)
