Jeff Strand
Count me in as a Jeff Strand fan. Liked Pressure and loved Dweller. Just bought Graverobbers for my Kindle for less than three bucks. Thanks!
Carl...I want to be a Strand fan :)) so I will at some time download dweller and read on my kindle but at the moment Greg's the man :))
Strand is great. I liked all the books mentioned so far and I was absolutely floored by Dweller. Its an all time favorite.

Most of Strand's work is so cheap for e-readers and so expensive otherwise, which is too bad cause I'd love to read more of his books now that I've read Dweller.

WOLF HUNT was only $0.99 a few weeks ago. I had intended to grab it then, but forgot about it. I could kick myself. His ebook prices are one of the things I love about Strand. He went this route due to what went on with Leisure. I'm thrilled that he has the alternative to the high priced small press books. I understand the frustration of those without ebooks, but I would rather this be then case then only small press availability.
Crap. Why didn't I look weeks ago? I don't normally go looking, I just see what's available when I'm browsing Amazon for one of my duties at work. Oh, well. I'm fine with paying $2.99 for anything by Strand. A few months ago I bought another Strand ebook at a good price. I enjoyed the story, too.
Sign up for his newsletter. Even if you don't care that much about Strand, his newsletters are so damn funny that they are worth reading just by themselves.
I bought Wolf Hunt on sale too. I've been reading ebooks on my iPod Touch which works but it is less than ideal. I think I'm about ready to invest in a Kindle, especially now that Jeff and others are offering such great deals on their books. $0.99 - $2.99? Makes a Kindle purchase well worth it.
Just pre-ordered the trade paperback of Fangboy from Delirium Books. Sounds like another great read from Mr. Strand!Nathan Pepper seemed like an ordinary baby…except for a mouth full of scary sharp teeth. Because his life began with his grandmother strongly recommending that he be destroyed as soon as possible, it's safe to say that Nathan was not destined for a typical existence.
He hated the nickname “Fangboy,” but nobody could deny that he was the most frightening little boy in town. And he would have adventures of every sort. Tragic adventures, like what happened to his parents. Dangerous adventures, like his encounter with the sinister Professor Mongrel. Thrilling adventures, like the part where he's on an out-of-control horse and he can't make it stop running and you think “Well, he should just jump off,” but he CAN'T because it's going too fast and he could break a leg. And, yes, one particularly gruesome adventure, though it is not described in great detail.
Will things end happily for Nathan? Will he bite somebody? Gather your family and your most deranged friends, make some chocolate chip cookies, and share the dark comedy treat of FANGBOY, a bizarre yet heartwarming yet rather tasteless saga that—all ego aside—will define a generation.

Have become a fan of Strand after reading Dweller and Pressure. Looking forward to more books by him.
I absolutely love Strand! DWELLER is the best book I’ve read in the last decade and WOLF HUNT is the best thing I’ve read this year (even if the HC came out last year). I’ve never really experienced genuine humor in a genre piece before and then I picked up the Andrew Mayhem series and my mind was officially blown. Now I am hopelessly hooked.
you've just missed our group read of Dweller, Pat...although, it was just mostly us talking about how much we all loved it :)
I’m sad I missed that because I could contribute post after post singing the praises of that fine novel! I am a member of another online genre book club and I absolutely LOVE it. I hope to get in on the action here as well.
great find, DorothyI'm sorta saving Pressure since it's the only other book I have by Strand and the rest are all small press and cost prohibitive to me, but it looks like an awesome book

I read it last year and loved it, but didn't join in on the plot details because I'd forgotten to much of the story.
Here's the group read link:

Glad this was started... Jeff is a great writer, "Dweller" being one of my favorite reads in a long time... I also have had the pleasure of meeting him, doing a book signing with him, hanging out in the same room with him, and watching him closely... he is very, very quiet... and I think that is to be feared... he's a funny guy... but scary...Armand Rosamilia
Highway To Hell
Hello:I like Jeff's work as well. I'm looking forward to reading "Dweller."
I've met Jeff a few times and he is really a nice guy. The first time I met him he picked up a couple of short movies we made and when I next met him a couple years later, he remembered the movies and me. That says a lot.
Have a Great Day!!!
The "Creature"
I have Wolf Hunt, but haven't read it yet. Gator, against my better judgment, instead of picking up a general fiction I started Seeds this afternoon.
Hey look at that! Jeff Strand stopped by!I'm knee deep in The Sinister Mr. Corpse on my Kindle right now. I have to say, it's pretty darn tooting interesting and I have NO idea where it is heading.
Next up will be WOLF HUNT. I've been dying to read that one since I saw it on the small press.
Where have you been hiding, Carl? Will you come out of the woodwork in time for Secret Santa or do you want me to take it over?I have Sinister Mr. Corpse on my TBR list. Glad to hear it's so good.
you will like Wolf Hunt it's a lot a fun I picked it upat Horror Con in Austin and had Jeff sign it for me. Very nice guy. If you haven't read the Andrew Mayhem
books check them out very funny in a sick twisted kind of way.
Thanks, everyone! Yes, I've finally started using Goodreads to track the books I read...though mostly it's just causing me to be embarrassed by how long it takes me to read stuff!
You can admit that you have joined to take full advantage of your slobbering, obsessive fans praising you to ridiculous heights here on these boards, Mr. Strand. Go ahead, we won't think any less of you. Hiya Tressa! Yes, you can count me in to run the Secret Santa again. I haven't been around much due to school taking up more time than before now. I have moved on from community college to university now. I'm at Northern Illinois University now. Well, that is where my classes are. I'm still at home. I also got a job at the elementary school out here by me. It is only part time and pays peanuts, but it is the foot in the door I need.
Aw, thanks! I will be trying to swing by a little more often. Part of the problem I run into is that when I am not able to do a lot of reading, this site is more painful. Drives me crazy seeing all of these books that everybody is reading and praising, and knowing I am still stuck on the same dang book for 5 months. I'm trying to add a little bit of prose reading every day now. I've also missed seeing all you lovely folks also.
I have never read Jeff Strand but after hearing all these wonderful things I believe I am going to try him out. Which one would you guys suggest I read first?
Tracy wrote: "I have never read Jeff Strand but after hearing all these wonderful things I believe I am going to try him out. Which one would you guys suggest I read first?"Go with Dweller first. It got me hooked on Strand.
You could also go with Gleefully Macabre Tales to get a good taste of Strand. That sounds kind of gross, especially since I am reading The Sinister Mr. Corpse right now and just finished a scene with Stanley and two women that could have gone a certain way. Eww. But anyways, Gleefully is really inexpensive if you are going the eBook route.
Jeff Strand became one of my favorite authors after only reading a couple of his books. Dweller and Pressure are awesome!
I am about to go to the library to see what I can find. It looks like they only have Graverobbers Wanted. Oh, and it looks like they have Pressure as well.
