What are you reading this week? How would you rate it so far?

I finished listening to True Notebooks by Mark Salzman which was good but not as great as I was hoping.

Started listening to Bedwetter by Sarah Silverman. Funny but has a serious tone I wasn't expecting.

Finally, still working on The Women's Room which I'm liking. Looking forward to the discussion.

I'm still working on Bel Canto - I'm about halfway and enjoying it alot, but I really haven't had much time for reading lately. I'm hoping to finish by Wednesday. Up next is The Women's Room.

Gretchen, is this the Mark Salzman who wrote "Lying Awake"? That was an excellent book.

I am reading "Homer's Odyssey," a heartwarming story of a blind cat. Much lighter than my usual choices, but a neighbor loaned it to me, and it does really hit the spot right now.

I'm finishing up Pirate's Latitude by Michael Crichton and starting Now & Then by Jacqueline Sheehan. Now & Then is for my bookclub. Hopefully I'll get to The Women's Room by Thurs.

I finished The Women's Room and will continue with The Kitchen House. The print is much larger in this book and good for my old eyes.

Stacey- how was Pirate's Latitude? It's on Mt. TBR.

Jenn- I loved Bel Canto.

I'm reading Nemesis by Jo Nesbro. Not too far in so I'm not sure what I think yet.

I agree...even with me reading TWR full time, I can't read for very long...the small print kills my eyes!

Right now I'm reading Playing with Fire by Theoren Fleury - a hockey memoir which is not bad. I really don't think I like him that much, although he has been through an awful lot and I love the hockey stories he tells. I'll probably finish tomorrow.

In my review I wrote that I liked pirates only slightly better than vampires. haha...I finished it and it was a quick read. I wonder if I would have liked it better if I read it in the summer. 'Beach read' kept entering my mind as I read.

Theresa, yes same Mark Salzman. True Notebooks is about his experience teaching a writing class to teens in juvenile hall. He was writing Lying Awake at that time I believe.

Well, I'm still working on "The Women's Room", but find myself taking breaks from it. Right now I'm also reading "Billy Boyle" by James R. Benn. It's the first in a mystery series taking place during WWII. Quite interesting so far. I finished "Up from the Blue" by Susan Henderson the other day. Very good book.

I finished How to Talk to a Widower yesterday by Jonathon Tropper. I have his others: Plan B and Everything Changes waiting in the wings. My 19 yo daughter is bugging me to read Gerald's Game by Stephen King next. I promised her I'd start it tonight but if I remember, I've tried it a couple times and it never took off for me.

Jonathon Tropper is my new favorite author. I love his writing!

Julie let me know when you decided to read Plan B. I haven't read it yet. Be fun to read along together.

A really good friend of mine is crazy about Jonathan Tropper too and has read several of his. Her favorite was the first of his she read, THE BOOK OF JOE. I'm fairly sure I remember your saying you'd read that and loved it, but just in case you haven't, I wanted to mention it.

Book of Joe is one of my all time favorites. First sentence of book grabbed me and have been a fan of his ever sense. He is right up ther with Nick Hornby in the genre...

Still trudging my through Autobiography of Mark Twain: The Complete and Authoritative Edition, Volume 1. It is a slow go.

For my fiction book, I am reading Lost Light by Michael Connelly.

I'm 1/2 way through The Lady's Slipper by Deborah Swift and I am enjoying the suspense of this story.

I'm reading Best Road Yet ~ a short story collection; The Women's Room, and Amy Tan's The Opposite of Fate.

I totally agree! And I adored his last one "This is where I leave you" ... I only wish he would write more and write faster! LOL

I just picked up Great House from the library and am anxious to get into it. I really liked The History of Love.

I'm still waiting for my order, TK! It will probably get here any day. Until then I started Paper, Scissors, Death. So far, so good. The author is a friend of yours, right?

I finished The Women's Room and picked up Left Neglected.

I read till midnight...I'm on page 209. I want to finish it before football starts!

I'm glad that you're trying Paper, Scissors, Death. It is indeed written by a good friend of mine. I guess she is developing quite a following for the series. I'm so impressed with her success and so happy for her.

I've read several. I just finished Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning. It was the end of the series. Answered a lot of questions through out the whole series, but was kinda a let down.

Oh Lisa, I'm sorry to hear that Shadowfever was kind of a let down. I've really enjoyed that series. I've still got to read it though. ;-)

I'm finishing up Kushiel's Chosen and then will go on to the last book in the trilogy. I don't care for the author's style, but I'm invested in the characters now.

Liz, I think I just built it up to much after waiting on it for so long.
