Ori I can't believe it! I absolutely love this book and I have to say, out of all the other books that I have read in the past. This one tops off the charts.

So anyways, I thought to be the first to discuss about this book.

Fav. Scenes.

When Ash gets drunk from Sprite. Seriously, I was cracking up so hard. Because of all things to get drunk off when alcohol has no effects on him. He gets drunk off of Soda. Imagine what the world would be like if that had the same effect on us. Alcohol having no effect on us, but Soda makes us go into a drunk stupor? Scary

I'm so happy that its Tory who is his Hea. She completely kicks ass and I love how she handles Artemis. That bitch-goddess needs to be put into her place. Seriously.

Also, I love how Ash. Who we see as calm, cool and collected. Keeps on messing up. Whether falling off of the ladder when he was getting off the roof and lands sprawled out on his back with the ladder falling ontop of him. Because he saw Tory. Or when he was in the same room with her, he got stuck at the bathroom door because he left his guitar on, strapped across his back. He was in such a daze because he saw Tory in a black Teddy. Damn, I really do love this book!!

I especially love how he wanted to stay far away from the Fergilicious song and talking about Similicious. Simi you are just one cool demon.

What are your thoughts on this?

Chasidy Overall this book blew me away. I'm glad Ash finally has found happiness and someone to stand up to the bitch goddess.

What scares me is how the book ended. I'm afraid of what Artemis will do to Nick. Nick has always been one of my favorites and to think that he might go through some of the pain Ash went through makes me want to reach into the book and kill the heifer goddess herself. I wish Nick and Ash could become friends again.

Oh well, it looks like we will be reading further into the Dark-Hunter world and I can't wait. =)

Reby I was really worried that I would be disappointed with this book. I am so glad I wasn't. The first part was depressing, but at least I know some of his background.

Now, I have to patiently wait (and not to happy about it) on Savitar's and Jaden's books.

Sunshine I Freakin LOVE this book! I had such high expectations of Acheron I really thought I was going to be let down but his story went up and beyond what I was expecting. It was soo worth the wait.... My favorite part was when Tory B*tch- slap Artemis! My house was quite everyone was asleep but my husband and I and while he was on the computer I was reading. Out of nowhere I jumped off the couch and was yelling yes!! Kick her Ass!!! My husband looked at me like I’d just grown horns. LMAO Just gotta say it... " To save him from one more bad memory created by you, I’d bathe in your entrails, B*tch."

Like you, I also Loved the Scene with Tory, Kim and Pam singing Fergilicious. Loved it when Ash was like-

"Oh hell no. Not enough beer in the world to make me sing "I’ll put your boy on rock, rock"

And the whole Similicious thing.. Very Funny. : )

Michelle I loved the book as well, I think it is by far my favorite of the series.

My curiousity is peaked by Artemis a bit here as to what the crap happened to her...Kenyon does allude to something in her background making her the way she is. And why does it seem that only she and Apollo feed the way they do out of the Greek Pantheon?

The Sprite scene was hilarious! And of all the heroines in the series, Tory is definitely the best! Such spunk and sass.

Questions about the future of Appolymi (sp, I know) also comes up, if she gave part of her power to Tory, what are the consequences there? To her and to Tory and the world. Curious.

I loved this book and was surprised it took me 5 days to finish!

message 6: by Ori (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ori On what you commented abou the whole Apollymi deal with sharing a bit of her powers to Tory. I just really hope nothing bad happens to her. I enjoy the role that she takes and love the fact that she would do anything for Acheron. Even face Savitar at one point to help save and protect Acheron.

But if anything should happen to Apollymi, heads would roll I will assure you. For I am certain that Ash as well as his new wife Tory will literally kick a lot of ass until they were all bruised, bloodied, broken, and shredded apart.

The one thing that I still don't understand is. Why did they choose that song "Sweet Home Alabama" whenever Ash appears at the Sanctuary? I thought the author was going to reveal a very funny story about it as the reason why the Bears chose that song.

Oh! And before I forget! I wish that Savitar and Jaden end up with normal mortal women like Ash has with Tory, and of course in the end they will become powerful one way or another.

Surf's up Savitar~!!

Gianne Kris I'm only reading the new books because I want to know more of what happened after this book... If you are a really big fan of Ash and haven't read the next book, I suggest try reading the bonus scene from Retribution and you are for a big good surprise.

Minne i love this book it has everything and Ash love the character all the drama ,suspends and Tory my hero lets just hope we will see more Ash and Tory babies in the others books like Retribution ,but please don't name a baby boy sebastos eudorus parthenopaeus .i can't believe she name ash baby like that.

Adoore I love Acheron's book but I am not happy with tory I think she is to simple and not the best woman for Ash. I wish to know more about Artie we see that she does have feelings but because of the life she has been given she does not know how to care for love. I believe Artie tried to protect Ash and we know that some of the Greek gods still don't know what or who he is. I am a huge fan of Artie and I believe that her redemption is coming I wonder who she will be paired up with even though I Artie and Ash were great when she was kind and not when she was acting dumb.

Jenny If you want to get more of a insight into the future with Ash and Nick, and Artemis read the Chronicles of Nick series.

Pamela I absolutely loved the story of Acheron. I would have given this book 5 stars but I didn't enjoy any of the story when it picks up in the present time. I just didn't enjoy the story of his future bride, the story of the lost city of Atlantis and the way it was written. So different from the rest of it.

Adoore I agree with Pam I loved the story of Acheron but the present time to me was just not good enough for him. I did not like the woman picked and come on lets gets serious she did betray his trust by calling his friend. Everything was tampered with which Acheron does not like. Getting drunk of sprite was not funny and singing to her in front of everyone not typical of Acheron. If his heroine is not to be Artie then it should've been someone stronger and for Ash beautiful.

Pamela Thank you Adoore. I totally agree with what you've written. I didn't like the female love interest at all. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Kate Pam wrote: "Thank you Adoore. I totally agree with what you've written. I didn't like the female love interest at all. Nice to know I'm not the only one."

Same here.
But it must have been hard to come up with someone who could match Ash. He's my favourite character in the series and I doubt that I'd have been happy with anyone that he was paired up with.

I much preferred the first half of the story. Before Tory and seeing just what Artemis put him through...

Adoore Thank you Pam and Kate. I am glad I am not the only that feels tory is not the best love interest for Acheron.

message 16: by Dee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dee see i'm the opposite - I think Ash the all-powerful needed someone slightly more down to earth to counter him - I liked Tori - but then I liked her when she was introduced in one of the dream-hunter books. I feel that all authors when they have such a huge character that they have developed with invariably let some readers down when that character gets his/her HEA - Acheron; Jonas in Lora Leigh's Breed series etc

Adoore I disagree Dee, Acheron is described as this omnipotent, handsome being and he has had issues with trusting people. Then all of a sudden you have this women who by the way had nothing to lose and everything to gain. He even says it that she is not that attractive. I just Acheron deserve someone omnipotent like him to ground him and help him not be a weakness for him.

message 18: by Dee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dee you don't think Tori had her reputation and her families reputation to lose - she was already seen as basically a laughing stock in her academic community because of the those beliefs...but that is the good thing about discussions - we can each see strengths and weaknesses and enjoy different books

Minne well i for ones like Tori;). not always the pretty girls are going to get the guy :(

Ashean Personally I really like Tory, and sorry but I don't think matters that Tory isn't beautiful to anyone else. Ash thinks she's beautiful and that's all that matters. Also, Tory, if you didn't notice, resisted Ash's curse from his aunt. Now how many women do you think could do that?
My opinion: Not many.

Now all my favorite scenes are in the last half of the book, 'cause, face it, his years of growing up are horrible.

Most of my favorite scenes are of interactions between Ash and Tory, with Tory not even being slightly scared of Ash, and Ash is a scary guy. 6'8" plus his boots, dressed in all black, always wearing sunglasses....Why am I describing him, we know what he looks like, he's been in most of the Dark-Hunter books.

Well, those were my opinions anyways.

Minne yup it is true;)

I like to think that she is meant to be "Every Woman". the average girl who landed the uber-hot, powerful god. That seems to be a theme with Sherri.

message 23: by Adoore (last edited Aug 15, 2011 10:04PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Adoore Just to explain it is not just her beauty that is not that important to me I just think that she was made to be seen as this great person. For one if we remember clearly she did notice Ash from the beginning so she was not resistant to his aunt's curse. She made the same comments Artie made about Ash's physical appearance.
I just did not like that she was hand picked and kept a virgin for Ash.
Their are so many other reason why I do not like tory but the main one is I just did not feel it like I did with the other couples.

Victoria I dunno, I personally liked Tory. Sure, I absolutely am in love with Acheron. But she is in my opinion, the right person for him. I mean, she's sweet, curious, everything! so what if she's not beautiful? That's a bit stereotypical don't you think? that the super hot guy gets the beautiful girl and all..

And they interact made me believe that she is the perfect match for him. After all, opposites attract don't they? :)

Ashean Adoore wrote: "Just to explain it is not just her beauty that is not that important to me I just think that she was made to be seen as this great person. For one if we remember clearly she did notice Ash from the..."

Well what I was trying to say is she resisted the impulse to act on it. Like the scene where she knew Ash wanted to/was going to kiss her and she fled! (One f my fav scenes because Ash -Ash!- wanted to whimper or nearly whimpered.)

And the virgin thing... Apollymi(sp) wanted her to be special for Ash...because all she thinks about is Ash. Though I really doubt that he appreciated his mom interefering with Tory's life before him, at the time.

Adoore I understand what you are saying I still don't think she was the one for Ash. In my eyes she just doesn't fit and I don't think she did much resisting Ash. And the virgin thing lets not forget that Artie was also a virgin. I thought it was to much interfering in the outcome of someone's life when Ash dislikes it so much I guess as long it benefits him its okay.

I love Ash and I love the books but I thought he deserved better for a love interest.

Patricia Wilcoxen I loved this book and Ash finally gets Artie off his back literally lol about time and its so sweet how he tends to everything for her like she'll break or disappear this was one of my fav series

Adoore I hate to disagree but I do.

message 29: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate It's not that Tori's plain looking. To be honest I like that part.

It's more that I expected some amazing and spirited and intelligent and just... pretty much Ash's equal. and for me, Tori fell short.

Adoore I agree with you Kate. I think that is what Ash need his equal.

Karinloos I was not overfond of Tori as Ash's HEA. I would have preferred a bit more kickass beautiful immortal who was also tortured in a similar way to him so that he had the mental connection.

Notwithstand I do think Tori fits the profile in terms of what he needed ie someone who didnt see him as a sex toy.

The first part of the book for me was sooo sad but it gave an insight to his actual distaste and hate for beings that crave him for his body.

Ashean Karinloos wrote: "I was not overfond of Tori as Ash's HEA. I would have preferred a bit more kickass beautiful immortal who was also tortured in a similar way to him so that he had the mental connection..."

So like another Dark-Hunter? I don't think that he would let any of the women he was supposed to train get under his skin. But you would have liked someone like Tabby, or any of the other women married to the Dark-Hunters and submit them to something similar to what was done to Ash? Why would you want more people to suffer? With Tory, she can tell and show him what a true family is like. Do you think that two tortured people could?
And it is a high mark for anyone if they can connect with someone with out actually enduring it themselves. We did to an extent, we read the first part of his book. And how many of you could read it more than once? Tory read Rissa's diary and guessed from his actions that he had a bad history, and has to help him through its repercussions every day now. In my mind he needs someone who has the patience and love to help him when it becomes really difficult. I don't think a person who has been hardened by her past could quite do as well as someone who hasn't, unless they have already moved past it.

These are just my opinions/thoughts/ideas, I am not trying to offend anyone.

Karinloos Ashean. Did u read the rest of my post?

Also I said immortal, not Dark Hunter. Ive read the series and am well aware he would never go for another DH. (maybe Savitars long lost sister lol)

As for Tory showing him what true family is well I disagree on that one. She's a loner, always was, totally on a mission to find Atlantis above all costs even when she was younger. Not really a big family girl. As for being so understanding of his past, well she is the only one that ever found out because of the diary.

But as I said in my post, I do think she fit the profile for a partner for Ash as she was the first one that didnt immediately drool and want him purely for his body.

Kat Morton It was my favorite book too!! Ash is my favorite Character he is so sexy and I love big men! I was so happy he finally found happiness he really deserves to be happy after having a life like that..... And good to see that the bitch goddess finally gets her ass kicked!!

message 35: by Adrielly (last edited Aug 19, 2011 07:41AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adrielly Rodrigues I love Acheron, it's my fav DH book so far.. In the beginning I was so shocked with what was done to Ash that I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the reading (just kidding)..Ash has always been so kind and even though he's suffered a lot, But then when it came to the current days, I was really thrilled to seeing he getting his happy ending! Love Tory and think the two of them make a really nice couple!

PS: I always love when the Peutier's play "sweet home Alabama" to warn the others that Ash is in the house, I always laugh when it happens! LOL

message 36: by Dee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dee because her family had all died in the quest to find atlantis - she had limited family (maybe a couple of cousins) and a grandfather left (and ash had met and saved the grandfather) - he remembered Simi

Aestas Book Blog k, so this is a little off-topic but I had to share this. I found what, to me, IS Acheron's song. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was written for him and him alone.

this is the song:
Orchard of Mines by Globus (Epicon)

so I'm not by nature super emotional on the outside and throughout all the hundreds of books I've ever read, only about 4 have managed to get me misty eyed even if I'm feeling a lot of emotion around the story.

Having just finished reading Acheron last night, and loving it more than any other book I've ever read, I was surprised that I only got misty-eyed once. Surprising. I expected to be more outwardly distraught.

Then I came across this song. It was on youtube in a video made of Acheron using Travis Fimmel. I really loved it so I bought it and transferred it to my iphone but didnt really listen to it. Then this morning, I played it in my car on my way to get groceries and I just started crying. We are talking tears streaming down my face. I can't stress how much this never ever happens. But something about this song just brought out all the emotions that I guess I was feeling when reading Acheron's book but never fully surfaced.

You can buy it on iTunes.

Orchard of Mines by Globus (Epicon)

this is the link to the original youtube video that I saw it on. While I do like Travis as Acheron, he's only got the look, but not the presence.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN_iOh...#!

Minne Is a good song, is the first time i listen 2 Glogus

Debra Absolutely loved Acheron's story! It was great, even while I was crying over the way he was treated by everyone in his childhood. Awesome job Ms. Kenyon!!

Adoore I just have to put my two cents in this conversation. One, Artie did not get he butt kicked she decided to step down and let him go. Lets get real how could tory beat a goddess that has been around for so long. Two, we know that tory did check Ash out as soon as she saw him at her lecture that he embarrassed her at. Third, if she would've been so understanding she would've never finish reading the journals for Ash's sake but she needed to know. I know everyone hates Artie for what she has done to Ash but she never disclosed any of Ash's past to anyone.

Susan Adoore wrote: "I just have to put my two cents in this conversation. One, Artie did not get he butt kicked she decided to step down and let him go. Lets get real how could tory beat a goddess that has been around..."

Didn't Ash's MOM help with the downfal of Artie...?

Sandy I don't think I will ever think anyone is good enough for Ash but he loves Tori and she makes him unbelievably happy so I like her. She's also sassy as many have said and is a sort of an adrenaline junkie so I like her a lot.

Adoore Susan *ARK* wrote: "Adoore wrote: "I just have to put my two cents in this conversation. One, Artie did not get he butt kicked she decided to step down and let him go. Lets get real how could tory beat a goddess that ..."

Ash's mom gave her some of her powers but they were recently given and they were not all of her power so I still don't think she could of beat Artie I think Artie also decided to just let it go at the end.

I have tried really hard to like her but she tory is annoying and treats Ash like he does not know what he is doing.

Johnna I TOTALLY disagree with Tory as Ash's HEA. She was nice and sweet and blah blah blah, but it just didnt seem to fit for me.

Adoore Johnna wrote: "I TOTALLY disagree with Tory as Ash's HEA. She was nice and sweet and blah blah blah, but it just didnt seem to fit for me."

I totally agree with you Johnna. She just doesn't fit well.

Agree with you both. There's just something about her that just didn't work for me as his HEA.

Aestas Book Blog I think Sandy above said it right : "I don't think I will ever think anyone is good enough for Ash but he loves Tori and she makes him unbelievably happy so I like her. She's also sassy as many have said and is a sort of an adrenaline junkie so I like her a lot. "

(sorry i dont know how to quote properly)

Samantha Bates This has to be the best book I have read in years, re Tory i think the emphasis is on her kindness, brains and loyalty. For Ash he has spent
Years trying to guard what was left of his humanity and then comes Tory who wants nothing from him but to know the person. I do think that Tory didn't need to beat up Artimas, the emphasis was on her desire to take on someone she couldn't beat knowing she would loose. I believe Artimas does love Ash and this is the reason she steps down, she doesn't have the capacity to love him the way he needs it, but she sees that Tory does so she let's him go even knowin the pain it will cause her.

I cat wait for the next one!!!

Lauren Samantha wrote: "This has to be the best book I have read in years, re Tory i think the emphasis is on her kindness, brains and loyalty. For Ash he has spent

I think Artie loves him in her own sadistic way, but I wish Tory would have kicked her ass more! I hate the way she treated Ash through out the entire book. She was ashamed of him and wouldn't speak up for him. She let him die!!! She threatened to kill the only person he has ever loved since Rissa because she wanted him to love her like that but he didn't.

As you can tell I'm so not an Artie fan....but I LOVE ASH!

Adoore I believe Ash did love Artie and I think deep down he will always love her because it is hard to forget your first love. Yes, Artie has made some awful choices but we can't compare her with tory one is human and the other is a goddess. They had deferent upbringings, I like Artie and I love her good/bad dynamic and I love how she is changing for the better. I believe she is proving her love by one letting Ash go and helping him with his babies birth. For some reason I just can't like tory I find her annoying and I do not like the fact that Ash's mom picked her for Ash even going as far as protecting her virginity when she had chosen to be with other men. I love Ash and Artie and I feel they still need some form of closure after over 11,000 years.
