message 5: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissa_wy) | 35 comments I would love to see the FHT world put on the big screen!

message 6: by Nadine (new)

Nadine | 39 comments I am always scared of what they do to the book ;-) I mean they tend to screw things up a lot. I am always curious about the casting.

Me too, though more often than not the casting are a bit of a surprize (Hunger Games).

Melissa (melissa_wy) | 35 comments did anyone see the new cover of EW with Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss on the cover? I have to say...she looks great!

message 9: by Nadine (last edited May 19, 2011 09:04AM) (new)

Nadine | 39 comments I saw it and she does look way more like Katniss than with her blonde hair, but I am still not convinced she IS Katniss. I imagine someone less smooth and tougher, less pretty in a way. Edgier and from another kind of beauty, hard to describe. But the image of her in her Hunger Games gear (I think we are talking of the same cover) is pretty impressive. And with brown hair tied together she is way more Katniss-ish than with her princess like blonde hair.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissa_wy) | 35 comments I totally agree with you

message 11: by Bella (new)

Bella Street (bellastreet) | 13 comments Whoa! This is news to me. It will be interesting to see who they cast!

Cast list for the hunger games here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392170/

message 13: by Bella (new)

Bella Street (bellastreet) | 13 comments Thanks, Wendy! Gosh, doesn't it seem Peeta and Gale are a bit reversed??

message 14: by Nadine (new)

Nadine | 39 comments You think? I think Gale is a perfect fit, won't start another rant about how wrong Peeta is! ;-)

message 15: by Bella (new)

Bella Street (bellastreet) | 13 comments I imagine Gale dark, sinewy, lean and Peeta, bulkier and having a kinder face. That's why the actors seemed reversed. I think the Liam dude would be a great Peeta, but the other one still isn't Gale to me. *sniff*

BTW in case you haven't guess, Team Gale here. LOL

message 16: by Nadine (new)

Nadine | 39 comments Haha was JUST thinking so. (That you belong to Team Gale.) I think Liam is a pretty perfect Gale, although the one they picked for Peeta would fit as well. WHich is all wrong to start with they need to be way more different from each other.

message 17: by Readerone (new)

Readerone I'm so excited to hear Forest of Hands and Teeth is being made into a film. I have such a weakness for zombie movies and I think this one will carry over to the screen really well.

message 18: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Jaffe | 3 comments Sorry to burst this bubble, but FHT is not being release this year. It's yet to go into production. The movie rights have been optioned and a script is in the works, but that's as far as things have gone.

message 19: by Aicha (new)

Aicha | 6 comments I started reading The Forest of Hands And Teeth and I honestly could not even finish the book ,I wouldnt even go see the movie if it came out , and there is already a tv series about zombies called The Walking Dead , which is an awesome show!

message 20: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 19 comments I'm with you Aicha, I don't think I would bother with it either. The book was just too....wishy-washy, and the main character was neither likeable nor unlikable!

message 21: by Aicha (new)

Aicha | 6 comments Exactly, the main character was flat and uninteresting.

message 22: by Armand (new)

Armand Rosamilia (armandrosamilia) | 9 comments Hmm... never read it but now I think I have to, since people either love this one or hate it...

I loved these books more than anything. While most main characters make you want to be like them and expedience everything they do, the main characters are almost hate-able. They are weak minded but grow throughout each novel.

However, I would hate to see these books hit the big screen. The books have an emotional impact to each person that I know who have read them. But each response to them is different. It brings out the what would I do questions in each person. They are scary and while post apocalyptic and filled with zombies seem very real. The love story between each of the characters is heart wrenching. While the writing of the trilogy is beautiful and the story gripping I do not think that it will translate to the big screen. It would be turned into more of a horror zombie flick with more attention turned toward the undead then the celebration of life even within the shelter prison of lies that live their life in. Yes i would go see it if it was made just because of the sliver of hope that it would be good but I know that it would most likely be horrible. Some books just should be appreciated as that, a great story not a movie.

message 24: by Itzel (new)

Itzel | 1 comments I agree with Marisol. Main characters aren't meant to be likable, although it helps the book greatly, it really shouldn't matter. But I do have to agree most authors make characters, so we as readers can like them. I don't mean, I don't have any likable characters of my own, yes I do. But the fact remains that characters are designed to create and enrich our life with adventure, magic and stories that will remain forever in our hearts. I personally believe that if every character, ever created was meant to be likable, books would be extremely boring and full of Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus'.

As for Hands and Teeth, I really liked this book. The ending was definitely bittersweet for me. But overall, I really loved it. And no one will like the same books, it's a fact. Mary wasn't boring to me, she was actually interesting. But to each his own.

message 25: by Terra (new)

Terra (terrabillion) Does anyone have a final realse date or casting list?

message 26: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 38 comments This trilogy is complex and will surely disappoint as a film. Look at what happened to THG. You can't put 9 hours of reading into 2 hours of film and get any useful result.

I respected this trilogy so much that I own frst editions of each one, preserved in my permanent library.

message 27: by Katrina (new)

Katrina | 7 comments I didn't even know they were making a film for it. Hopefully it turns out okay. If you look at the harry potter series, maybe they have a shot. Fingers crossed, but will not get my hopes up.

message 28: by Bob (new)

Bob | 12 comments That's a book that I've really wanted to check out but haven't pulled the trigger on buying it yet. It looks really good from what I've read about it.

Maria | 30 comments Bob wrote: "That's a book that I've really wanted to check out but haven't pulled the trigger on buying it yet. It looks really good from what I've read about it."

Hi Bob! I wouldn't buy the books, but go to the library check them out, they're worth it. Truly I was surprised at how engaging they were, specially if you stick with them, trust me they get better book after book, The Dark and Hallow Places, is in my personal opinion the BEST in the series!

message 30: by Anna (Bananas) (new)

Anna (Bananas) I would love to see a movie of this book. The novels were almost too internal at times, so the action of a movie is welcome IMO.

Dark and Hollow was my absolute favorite. Love Catcher and Hannah.

message 31: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (thenugget) | 5 comments It would be cool if this were made into a movie, but I'm sooooo tired of great books being made into crappy movies. And with these complex kind of characters...I don't see it working out.
