How would you describe the style of Episode 10? Do you agree that it’s a microcosm of the novel itself? If so, what does it also say about Dublin?
What do you think of Father Conmee and how he represents the Church?
Joyce gives the reader a broader view of the Dedalus family in this episode. Did learning more about them change your opinion of Stephen?
Why does Stephen refuse to help Dilly and his sisters? How does he resemble and not resemble his father?
In The Odyssey, Circe cautions Odysseus to avoid the moving, wandering rocks. The movement of these rocks was probably an optical illusion. Did you find any illusions in this episode?
