Jen Daiker | 16 comments I am curious about brand new authors to the chick lit genre! I love meeting new writers/authors and would love to support them on their journey to success.

While I adore several bestsellers such as Helen Felding and Sophie Kinsella I'd also love the chance to get to know some new faces to the game!!!

So if you are a new chick lit author or you know of a new chick lit author I'd love their name, blog, and any other information!!! I wanna start reading some awesome books and showcase them on my blog!

My email and blog address is found on my profile!

Meredith Schorr (meredithschorr) | 19 comments Hi there,

I am actually a new chick-lit author! And I love hearing about readers who are interested in finding fresh chick-lit meat :)

My debut novel, Just Friends With Benefits, was published in September, 2010.

"When a friend urges Stephanie Cohen not to put all her eggs in one bastard, the advice falls on deaf ears. Stephanie's crush on Craig Hille has been awakened as if soaked in a can of Red Bull and she's determined not to let the guy who got away once, get away twice."

Would love for you to showcase my book on your blog and will email you separately.

Another new author I really like is Riley Noehren. Her debut, Gravity vs. The Girl, was fabulous.

Thank you!

Meredith Schorr (meredithschorr) | 19 comments Hi Jen,

I'd love to email you, but when I tried to view your profile to get your email/blog address, it said I had to be your friend to view your profile.

Do you mind if I friend you?

Meredith

Hi Jen,

I'm a new Chic Lit author and I'd love for you to check out my book, A Snake in Paradise. I also tried to look at your page and it said I had to be your friend, so I'll send you a friend invite as well. :) Thanks for the interest!

"Aja Rain flees to Italy for peace and quiet after an accident where she nearly castrates her ex-boyfriend. She becomes a media sensation when all she wants to do is move on with her life. Italy is full of hot Italian men, but Aja is afraid to trust her heart again. Pietro and Marco are impossible to resist. How can she choose between them?

Everything is thrown into turmoil when she realizes Stephen, the ex, has followed her across the ocean, determined to get his revenge. Aja thought she would be safe and protected with her new friends in Italy.

She couldn’t have been more wrong."

Another new author I enjoy is K.A. Jordan. Let's Do Lunch was a fun read.

Jeannie (jeannie_long) | 1 comments I'm not a new author, but I'm working with one! Her name is Dana Precious and her first book, "Born Under a Lucky Moon" is out next week. It’s a really cute and fun read about a dysfunctional yet loving family from Michigan, and a story that spans from the Great Lakes to Hollywood and back. It’s a touching story and is based on some real life events of the author that include a surprise wedding and, sadly, a murder.

You can read sample chapters and the prologue at http://www.bornunderaluckymoon.com before its released on February 8th. I hope you all enjoy!

Cathy (cgraceh) | 43 comments Debut Chick LIt author Cathleen Holst released a fabulous novel just this past December: Everleigh in NYC. Loved it! and now I have the privilege of hosting a giveaway for one lucky reader to win a copy of her book; please check it out on my blog; no gimmicks, no requirements, just a fun chance to win a great book!

message 12: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Reil | 3 comments Hello! I'm a new, British chick-lit author and my name is Maureen Reil. My self-published, debut comedy romance novel is titled LILY LOVES TO LOVE and in it, Lily can't stop falling in love with the men that she hooks up with. I didn't want to write a predictable ending so 'the reader' has the choice as to which of the three guys (The Handsome One, The Average One or The Rich One) the main character should be with in their opinion. Only, please forgive the 'naff' cover as it was free and until I sell a fair few copies, I can't afford to change it! I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Kimberly Stuart | 3 comments Hi, all!

I'm not sure I'm a newbie, but I still feel like it. Does that count? :)

I have five chick lit titles, the most recent of which released in February. Operation Bonnet was a HOOT to write and my mother thinks it should win lots of awards. Ahem. If you get the chance, read the first chapter here: http://kimberlystuart.com/buy-books.html

Looking forward to great discussions!

message 15: by Megan (new)

Megan (mkarasch) | 7 comments Hi everyone,

I too am a brand new chick lit author. I wrote the book Tales From My Hard Drive that Debora mentioned. Debora, thanks a ton for the shout-out!! Thrilled you are enjoying the book. I am always thrilled to meet new chick-lit readers and authors. Excited to hear from you all.

Have a great day!
Megan

Debora Geary | 10 comments It's a great book - I have you up on my blog too :).

message 17: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments I'll definitely check it out!!!

Megan - Is this a self published novel?

Debora - What's your blog address I'd love to check it out?!

message 18: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary | 10 comments I'm at www.fourstarsandup.com - I *think* you can pick up the feed by liking me on my author page here on goodreads (I tried to set that up yesterday). I try to find books with great reader reviews that are hard to find in the big pile at amazon. I have a whole category for chick lit - I just got started, but it will grow fast :). I welcome any chick lit readers as friends here on goodreads, too!

message 19: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments Fantastic! I'm sure you're right, it's going to grow rapidly!

message 20: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary | 10 comments Yup, I just have to find time to feed and water it. Hard to do with two little ones and trying to find time to read and write. Maybe I can give up sleep - I already gave up keeping my house a non-disaster :).

message 21: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments Oh yes that I understand, between writing and the full time job I've learned that it's all about balance. Creating as much as you can!

message 22: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary | 10 comments Ha - just checked out your profile, Jen - I'm a data analyst by day, too :). If you don't get anywhere with your WIP at the publisher, come join us on the dark side and indie publish!

message 23: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments Well right now I'm running the agent route and I think I'll be successful! I'll definitely keep you updated though!

message 24: by Megan (new)

Megan (mkarasch) | 7 comments @ Debora - Thanks for putting me on your blog! I am very grateful and again, so thrilled you like the book! I'm gonna check out your blog now ...

@ Jen - yep, I self-published through Createspace. I was pretty happy with the product. It's a ton of work marketing though. I got close with some agents so I self published and now will see what happens. Good luck to you!!

message 25: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments I think the cover art is breathtaking Megan! I love that you took the leap of faith! I think if I had more time and I was dedicated I would do it that route, oh... and I'd have to be a wonderful editor (which I am not). I leave it to the experts... like yourself! I'm so impressed! Can't wait to dive in!

message 26: by Megan (new)

Megan (mkarasch) | 7 comments I am not a great copy editor either .. but I hired a brilliant one. And the cover art was done by me, my mother (an artist) and a graphic designer I hired. I wish I could take sole credit for it. Thanks so much for the kind words and the read. If this book goes nowhere, it's fine - I just want it to help me get an agent on my next one. Have a great day!!

message 27: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments I think that you're already putting in a ton of work so I wish you the best of luck with the agents and in general!!!

message 28: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary | 10 comments I hired an editor too - no one should publish without one :). I love your cover too, Megan. And quite a few authors now are getting agents and trad publishing contracts after self-publishing. It's a really interesting new world out there!

message 29: by Jen (new)

Jen Daiker | 16 comments Yes it is! I just don't want to have to pay for an editor or do ALL of the work. I'm definitely more of a traditional publisher... Call it cold feet! However you are both very inspiring that is for sure!

message 30: by Debora (new)

Debora Geary | 10 comments I say any way to get a book published that works is a good thing - we all need to find the way that works best for us. Good luck with your book!

Hi Jen. I have just joined this group. My book is called Dancing with the Ferryman (by Frankie Valente) and it is available on Kindle and Smashwords. It is currently free on Smashwords for the summer sale. Hope you get a chance to read it. It is chick-lit with a slight difference. It is set in Shetland and the heroine is a soon to be single-mother and the hero is a ferryman.

message 38: by Erik (new)

Erik | 2 comments Hi Everyone - great to meet you & fantastic seeing a group dedicated to a genre that's been unfairly devalued over the last few years. My name is Erik Atwell, and I am a Seattle based writer who has just released a novel that certainly can be slotted into the Chick Lit shelf.

My novel is titled 'Thank You For Flying Air Zoe.' It was released just this past month through an indie outfit called Booktrope Publishing, and I affectionately dedicate it to anyone who's ever sung into a hairbrush and dreamt of being a rock star.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm also trying to just give the thing away? :) It's true! There are about six days left in the GoodReads 'Air Zoe' giveaway - please do have a look if interested:

http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...

There is all sorts of additional information about the novel on my Author Page, as well as a fledgling blog that intimidates me more than writing the novel itself did!

I look forward to discovering all sorts of excellent titles here, and thank you for this group!

Jennifer Farwell (jenniferfarwell) | 3 comments Hi everyone! :) I'm wondering if there are some familiar faces from other chick lit groups I've joined? (Facebook groups, that is.) It's great to see this group and to be introduced to new chick lit titles!

My name is Jenn, and I'm also a new chick lit author (J.F. Kristin). My novel, ROCK STAR'S GIRL, was released in late July. The eBook is available for 99 cents on Amazon, iBooks, B&N, Smashwords, etc., and the trade paperback is also on Amazon.

Rock Star's Girl by J.F. Kristin

Getting ready for my Chick Lit Plus blog tour starting on the 19th, and very excited!

One of my favorite lesser-known chick lit authors is Julia Holden. I was first hooked on chick lit years ago by reading Lauren Weisberger, Sophie Kinsella, and Wendy Holden though. :)

message 48: by Ana (new)

Ana Hey Jenn, and congrats on your book. I love the tittle..I'm adding it to my TBR pile and hoping to read it soon. Wishing you lots of success and lots of more great books:)

Catherine Robertson | 2 comments Hi everyone - I'm a new chick lit author, and Goodreads newbie, too. My book is called The Sweet Second LIfe of Darrell Kincaid, and it's a humorous contemporary chickie piece of lit. It's in print in New Zealand (which is where I'm from), with print translations in Germany and (soon) Italy, too. (I feel a European trip coming on:) It's just gone up as an e-book on all the usual sites: Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Kobo. My own website and blog is www.catherinerobertson.net I'd love you to come and visit, and I look forward to being part of this group!
