Lynn entered the cafeteria, not knowing where to sit. She got a small tray of food, and sat down at an empty table. She looked around, but she didn't really know anyone yet, and didn't recognize anyone.
Laruin came in, wondering what was on the menu for today. He shrugged off his wonder as he saw that is was tacos and he got a few, before sitting at a table.
Lynn glanced up as someone sat at a table not far from where she was. She didn't recognize him, so she looked back down at her tray. She wasn't exactly the 'outgoing' type, so she didn't know if she should say anything or not.
Laruin saw a girl looked up at him. He looked at his food, then went over and sat by her at her table. "Hey." He said.
Lynn looked up and smiled. She was getting used to meeting new people by now. "Hi," she said. "I'm Lynn,"
Lynn laughed quietly, shaking his hand. "They sure do." she said. "So, what department do you work in?" she asked.
Lynn's smile widened. "Same. I don't remember seeing you in the control room before..." she shrugged, "but then again, I miss a lot of things." she said, laughing.
Laruin chuckled. "It's nice to meet you, Lynn." He said. He noted to her food. "Whatcha eating?" He asked, taking a bit out of one of his tacos.
Lynn looked at her tray, smiling. "I...I think it's a sandwich, but I have no idea what's in it," she said, holding the sandwich up.
Laruin swallowed and examined the sandwich. It didn't look too good to him. "Want one of my tacos?" He asked, holding the one that he hadn't taken a bite out of out to her.
Lynn looked at Laruin's expression, then down at the sandwich. She put it down on her tray, pushing it to the side. She looked at the taco he held out to her. "You don't mind, do you? I mean, it is yours after all," she pointed out.
"If I did, I won't give it to you." Laruin joked. "No, I don't mind. Go ahead and have it." He told her.
Lynn laughed, taking the taco. "Well, thank you," she said. She took a bite, and knew that it tasted much better than the sandwich would have.
Laruin finished the other one and went on to drinking his milk, which didn't take that long. "So, you're in engineering... what do you work on?"
Lynn shrugged. "A little of everything, I guess. I'm not really sure that there's only one specific thing I have to do," she explained.
Lynn raised her eyebrows, but didn't say anything. It appeared that everyone had already been assigned jobs in the Control Room. That wasn't surprising, since she'd never been to a captain's meeting, and didn't know much about how things worked around here.
"Well, don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you won't have anything to do." she said, looking at the table, then back up at Laruin.

Laruin shrugged. "I don't really. I just go around and make sure that the meters are in check, working properly, and that the ship's not going to blow up soon." He said. "I really don't have much." He told her. "Why?"
Lynn shrugged. "Well, seeing as we are flying through space toward a mysterious planet, I guess it would be pretty safe to, let's say, overheat and blow the engine?" she asked then laughed. "I don't think that will happen, though. We have a lot of people in Engineering that could help. If it did happen, we'd find some way to fix it," she said, leaning back in her chair.
Laruin chuckled. "Yeah. A brilliant idea to send the rest of humanity to a planet that might not have oxygen, or be inhabited by a species we don't know of that could possibly kill us."
Lynn smiled. "Exactly," she said, trying not to laugh. She looked at Laruin for a moment. "So, how did you end up here?" she asked, leaning her elbows against the tabletop.
Laruin shrugged. "I saw a letter in my mailbox saying: Teens needed to save the human race and thought why not?" He said.
Lynn laughed. She couldn't remember ever laughing so much since....well, at all. "Sounds like you put a lot of thought behind it," she said, smiling.
Laruin looked down. "My parents were already dead." He told her. "My sister was all the family I had left, and she was working to become a nurse, so she took the request and became the sick house captain. I was just her tag along brother, because staying there would have been pointless, and at least if I came here, I could keep an eye on her."
Lynn looked at him sadly. "I'm...I'm sorry you had to go through that," she said, then looked down at the table. "My parents....my parents were dead, long before any of this happened," she explained. "I've been on my own since I was a child." She looked back up at Laruin. "And I don't have any family, so I can't tell you that I know how you feel. But I do know that, well, at least you have your sister." she said softly.
Laruin smiled a bit, although it didn't relieve the pain. He sighed. "I'm sorry. I should be getting back to checking the meters. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."
Lynn waved his comment aside. "Don't worry about it. It's not so much sad memories. It's more like...confusing memories." she said, studying his face. "Why weren't you made captain of Engineering, anyways?" she asked.
Laruin shrugged. "I'm not really a leader type. And with my sister being a captain..." He smiled with a little humor in it. "Yeah, we can barely agree on somethings, but working together would be a disaster."
Lynn smiled. She'd always loved looking at the bond between brothers and sisters. On the other hand, nothing confused her more. "Well, I hope to meet your sister sometime. She sounds very...interesting," she said.
Lynn nodded. "Knowing me, I'll somehow trip on something. It's only a matter of time until I'll do something stupid..." she trailed off. "That would be quite the introduction."
Laruin shook his head. "I couldn't see you doing anything stupid." He said. "But like I said, I probably have to go back. You can have my fruit if you want." He said, sliding the cup of peaches to her. He got up and threw his empty tray and her old tray away.
Lynn held the cup of fruit in her hand, looking up at Laruin. "Well, thank you. I'll see you around, right?" she asked.
Laruin shrugged. "I'll either be here, in my room, or in the control room." He said with a wink, then disappeared down the hall.((gtg))
((....okay, c ya))
Lynn watched him walk out of the cafeteria, and she looked down at the peaches. She finished them, throwing the cup into the trash. She realized how exhausted she was, and headed toward her dorm.

Sevania came in with her hands over her ears. The lights stopped after a while and she changed her mind and left.
She rolled her eyes and grabbed a ty=ray and slid it, gathering, fruit, pancakes, milk, bacon and hashbrows.
She instatly became the pancake monster an 'attacked her helpless pancacke victims. Biting into them and devoured them
