I just finished Graceling by Kristin Cashore. It was definitely a book for Tamora Pierce lovers. In this world there are certain people graced with abilities. Katsa's grace is killing and she is constantly being sent to do her king's dirty work but at the same time she has started a secret council to help others. It was really well written, great character development and I really enjoyed the romance.
A couple of older series that I LOVE: The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop; the order goes Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, and Queen of the Darkness. They're pretty thick but well worth the time.
A series by Kristen Britain The Green Rider, First Rider's Call and The High King's Tomb. This series is not yet finished and I don't have a date on the fourth book yet.
The Hunger Games was a fantastic book! I loved it, loved it, loved it! I couldn't put it down. Also, The Host was good as well. I personally thought it was a whole lot better than Twilight!
Poison Study was the best! It's the first in a series of three, and it was awesome! I haven't read the second or third yet, but I'll get to it. It's kind of mature, but if you've read a lot of Tamora Pierce's books, it should be okay. : )
I love the Inda series. The third just came out. Like others have mentioned, a more mature read (on an understanding level, they are thick books and require a good reader) but very suspenseful and beautifully written books. It is set in a setting similar to Tortall. I can't rave enough about that series. Next to Tamora Pierce it is probably my favorite.
Wow, im amazed at how many books iv already seen! i already read Wicked Lovely, Graceling [you need to read Fire next, its awesome:], The Hunger Games [and the next in the series, Catching Fire:], The Host, & Poison Study [intresting twist on romance, just wait until she goes home in Magic Study:].Seriously good books people!!!
Id suggest reading Hawksong, Rangers Apprentice, and Mistborn which are all some of my favorites
