I haven't read any of the Ledger books yet but I do like Benny and Tom from Rot and Ruin and Crow from the Pine Deep Trilogy. Both Tom and Crow are natural teachers and fighters, they also have an interesting ability to see through others' BS and have their own unique sense of humor.I like these characters because they can be heroes without turning off their humanity and think things through before they act. Its honestly a rarity in film and fiction these days to have heroes that do both.
My favorite characters come from the Pine Deep Triology. I loved the complexity of Tow Truck Eddie. Iron Mike Sweeny was brilliantly written. I really felt for the kid and was pained by the abuse he endured. I love how Mr.Maberry writes such strong female characters. Val Gutherie (Pine Deep), Nix (Rot & Ruin), Grace Courtland (Joe Ledger) are all very strong female characters that compliment the male leads.

How can you mention strong female characters and not mention The Lost Girl. She would kick your ass.

I liked the other female character, Benny's friend, in Rot and Ruin more. Tough and approachable. Right now I'm blanking on her name and the female villian's name in Patient Zero. She was a bad ass and I had sympathy for her in the short story in Living Dead 2. It's been a long day, I can't remember the name of that story. Help! :)

Yeah, she's a nut
Yeah, she's a nut
Okay...so with DEAD OF NIGHT, JOE LEDGER, ROT & RUIN and V-WARS all in development for film or TV, and GHOST ROAD BLUES being discussed....who would you cast as your favorite characters?
