Thanks for the information, Joanne! I watched Dr. Horrible's Musical Blog when it was online the first time. I loved the first section, thought the second was okay, and really almost hated the third section. I guess I should have known with Joss, but I was surprised (shocked!) at the ending. What did those of you who have seen it think? (Without spoilers, for those who haven't seen it yet. Although, why haven't you!?? Go watch it right now so you can discuss it with us! :)

Joanne, I'm going to start a separate thread for Dr. Horrible - clearly labeled with spoiler warnings so we can discuss it freely!

I did! It sounds weird - and interesting. Which is how all of Joss's projects are when you just hear a summary of the plot. I didn't watch Firefly for a while after I heard about it because "a western in space" seemed too weird and couldn't be all that good, right? :) And at that time I was already a big Buffy and Angel fan, so I should have known better.

I missed Buffy and Angel when they were big and didn't get into the Whedonverse until Firefly because I love the concept of a space western. There's an anime called Cowboy Bebop that first got me hooked on the idea.
Anyway, on topic, my favorite Firefly episode has to be "Objects in Space". Jubal Early was a great character, I wish he would have been around longer. I also really like "Trash" because of Saffron. She was another character I wish would have been around more.

just as a side note, i saw only 1 epasode when it was on Fox, which was "trash" but when i got the full season the box said that "trash" never aired...????
Welcome to the group, Logan! I'd say that's a very valid worry. Some Fox episodes don't even get 6 episodes! Look what happened to Drive.
Olin, the Firefly Wiki says that Trash first aired on MundoFox, on June 28, 2003:

Could that have been the Fox channel you saw it on? I know that the entire series was also shown several times on the Sci-Fi Channel.

To recap, our picks for favorite episode so far are:
Two for Out of Gas
One for Ariel
Two for Objects in Space
One for Trash
Do you have a different favorite that hasn't been mentioned yet? Well, what are you waiting for? Mention it! :)

I can't believe that no one has mentioned Jaynestown...I love that one just because Jayne is my favorite character. The hat he wears is priceless!
Hi, Matthew! Welcome to the group. Jaynestown is one of my top favorites - right behind Out of Gas and Serenity. Two favorites scenes - when they are all gathered around Jayne's statue and Kaylee says its eyes keep following her. I also love the scene in the bar when we first hear "The man they call Jayne!" - seeing the expressions on all their faces as the song starts is just too fun.

1. Out of Gas
2. Our Mrs. Reynolds
3. Ariel
and sorry, but Jaynestown was my least favorite episode. I just didn't like it as much as the rest...

Jayne is on his way to make you reconsider that comment. ;-)

I'm not too sure what it is about it, but everytime I watch it...I dunno, it seems kind of pointless??
I can't explain what it is. Everytime I watch the series, I watch it too, it's not like I skip that one episode, but I just can't help to feel that I want it to be over with so I can move on to the next one.
I just wish we could have had an episode like Jaynestown for every one of the characters - to find out more about them and their backstories. There were just so many things hinted at that were never revealed.

My favorite episode is, hands down, Out of Gas, followed by Our Mrs. Reynolds.
Welcome to the group, Kandice! It looks like we may at some point get to know about Shepherd Book's backstory. Read about it here:

There were, 'The Message' was the episode they shot at the time they found out they were canceled, or it was the last one they shot once they knew they were canceled. Either way, some of those scenes were extremely hard to shoot due to emotional toll on the cast and crew once they found out they were canceled.... If I remember the commentary right.

If you want to see "Serenity" on a big screen, check out http://cantstoptheserenity.com for an event near you and if you live in Vancouver, BC or nearby, check out our blog for tickets and more information: http://serenityscreeningvan.blogspot.com. Over the past five years, CSTS events worldwide have raised over half a million dollars for Equality Now and some local charities. Come and support women & girls globally while having a fun shindig!

Shindig. Gave us my favorite qoute though. Kaylee calling Mal "cap'n tightpants" every time I hear her say that I fall out of my chair laughing.

Out of Gas and Ariel are great, but watching Mal help Wash endure torture, shows a true example of how Mal works. He carries you when you can't crawl, even when you busy hating him.
I think you are the only one I've ever seen mention War Stories as a favorite, Jessie. But I do like your reasoning.

It was 1) Shindig
Followed by Our Mrs.Reynolds,Trash&Heart of Gold
With Train Job pullling up the rear

But if you're going to force me to choose - I guess I'd have to say The Message. I think I cry everytime I watch it, in part becuase of knowing that the cast filmed part of it after first learning that the show was being cancelled.

I'd have to say Shindig.
Heart of Gold (because I love Jaynes' thought process).

Out of Gas is my favorite, hands-down. If you haven't watched all the other episodes, Out of Gas doesn't mean as much, but it's still an amazing episode. Other favorites are Serenity (both parts) and Jaynestown.
I never can choose just one favorite. :)
