Thanks Kath!Just for the record - Skena picked Chick Lit for February and I asked around to find a good Chick Lit story for her. It is not my recommendation for y'all! I'm not a fan really.
I like mystery, paranormal, sci-fi etc. Just setting the record straight in case the book ends up being a stinker! :-)
Kathleen wrote: "Okay fixing - I will update so you can be June :-)"Oh Kath - That wasn't necessary at all! You are so sweet to me. I was just making sure folks knew it wasn't my recommendation in case it's no good. (LOL)
I'm sorry for the confusion - was just trying to be funny and maintain my vampire loving reputation with y'all.
Just wanted to put a place card for my selection - hopefully by September it will be more readily available and the price for a used book will drop. I just couldn't pass up choosing this one http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/77... A Dog's purpose The reviews look amazing and being a dog lover I couldn't resist.
Okay - So June is several months away, but I've been giving it a great deal of thought and trying to decide how to convert y'all to fang bangers :-)I couldn't decide on a single novel or author, so I thought an anthology would be the way to go to introduce us to several new paranormal authors and a few old favorites. Since June is officially the start of summer vacation season, I've picked....(drum roll please)..."Death's Excellent Vacation" an anthology of paranormal rest and relaxation tales edited by Charlaine Harris and Toni L.P. Kelner.
I figure this way, we can discuss the short stories as we read them, so we don't have to wait for everyone to finish the entire book. We can also skip the stories that aren't working for us, and if we really like a story, perhaps we can read an entire novel by the author at a later date.
Best of all, for our "True Blood" fans...the first story by Charlaine Harris features Sookie Stackhouse and Pam the vampire on vacation!
I was wondering if it's okay to pick a newer book for May for my pick?I would really like to read A Discovery of Witches by
Deborah E. Harkness, but it just came out this month.
I didn't know if people could get it from their libraries by May, is that enough time?
Oh gosh, I almost picked that one Dawn! I really want to read it, but I was concerned that it might be too new. I've been on the waitlist at my library for it, but if it doesn't come in, I'll just buy a copy!Might be tough on Skena as a new release, but if y'all decide for sure, I can get a copy in the mail to her before May.
Vickie,If everyone decides it's okay, you might want to find out if Skena can or is willing to read a book on her computer.
Amazon will let you download their Kindle ap for free for your computer, and then you could send it to her in e-book format, that would save shipping charges. (Just a thought!)
sounds like a very interesting book. thanks a lot Vickie and Dawn for thinking of me :).it's so kind of you, but, you don't have to buy me one if you can get it (for free) as an e book ,it'd be OK for me
Kath/Mark...Are we continueing on and picking a July book?
I'll need to get on the library waitlist for whatever we are reading next...
I was wondering the same thing. If no one replies here, maybe we can post a note in the SMF thread on OLS.If not, I say we keep going with those of us are still posting here, LOL!

I agree!
Vickie, do you want to make up a new rotation for those of us who are left, to choose a monthly selection? I think it may be just you, me, Jennifer and Skena?
Or we can simply wait for a few months to see if anyone is still interested in continuing?I'll happily continue with just a few of us if anyone else is willing?
Dawn - I just jumped in and picked a July book (because Mark asked us to pass on his turn)to keep us going for now. Deb is up in August and Kath in September. Hopefully, Kath will come back soon and reorganize us for the fall and Deb will come and tell us what to read for August, but if not, perhaps you can pick one for August if Deb doesn't want to?Thanks for keeping us going. I love reading with y'all!
