We've all heard of the Rorshark test: a series of random ink blots that are shown to people in conjunction with the question, "What do you see?"

While books are not ink blots (there's a little more deliberation to the plots, characters, and ideas), they are interpreted VERY subjectively...for a good reason: We all see the world through a filter. We wear a pair of invisible glasses made up of our unique DNA, family backgrounds, life experiences, beliefs, personalities, hopes, fears, and choices... In other words, no two people see the exact same event the same way, nor do we interpret the same "stimuli" the same way (not only do our PERCEPTIONS skew our realities, but some studies show that our perceptions actually DICTATE our realities...) That said, what we read, what we prefer, and even what we see when we devour a book may tell us as much about ourselves as the author or the work: The book is, to a great degree, a Rorshark... :-)

With that in mind, what does your unique preference in literature tell us about the unique person that is you???? :-)

Christy | 13 comments Hmm, you are making me think and my brain is frozen...It's -4 outside and our furnace hiccuped today so it's only 60 in my house right now lol. Anyways since I mostly read Paranormal/Urban fantasy, I guess that would make me a dreamer. But on the other side of the coin, I have a great sense of reality, but find that most reality sucks, it's painfull. I've seen too much to enjoy reality, so I escape to fantasy when I don't HAVE to deal with reality. I like the women characters because they are strong. I like the men, because they aren't wussy men. They are alpha, and I have always like a good alpha male. I have a strong personality and need someone as strong or stronger than me to keep me in check lol

I love what you wrote! Thanks, Christy. I also write to "escape" reality. That's why I like fantasy; don't have to stay within the lines. Can make up my own rules :-).

Tee | 1 comments good question I've never asked myself this.... well for starters I have a serious addiction to paranormal reads there's a special place in my heart for vampires and shifters, so I mostly likely would say my taste in books says that I'm bit of a nut job who would be overjoyed if vampires and shifters were actually real. my books tell my they make excellent boyfriends :-)
